TP-Link EAP610 AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 Ceiling Mount Access Point – Omada SDN | PoE+
Overview
The TP-Link EAP610 is a ceiling-mount Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point delivering combined wireless speeds of up to 1,775Mbps — 1,201Mbps on 5GHz and 574Mbps on 2.4GHz. Designed for commercial, hospitality, education, and enterprise environments, it integrates fully with the Omada SDN platform for centralised cloud management, Zero-Touch Provisioning, and multi-site control via the Omada app or web UI. PoE+ powered (802.3at) for clean, cable-free ceiling installation, with seamless roaming, Omada Mesh, and a secure guest network with multiple authentication options. A professional-grade Wi-Fi 6 access point at a competitive price point for Australian installers and IT managers.
Key Features
Wi-Fi 6 (AX1800) – 802.11ax dual-band; up to 1,201Mbps on 5GHz and 574Mbps on 2.4GHz for faster, more efficient wireless performance in device-dense environments.
Omada SDN Integration – Centralised cloud management, Zero-Touch Provisioning, and multi-site control via the Omada app, web UI, or Omada Controller (OC200/OC300/Software).
PoE+ Powered (802.3at) – Powered via a single Ethernet cable; also supports 12V DC for flexible installation options.
Seamless Roaming – Uninterrupted video streams and voice calls as users move between access points; no manual reconnection required.
Omada Mesh – Wireless backhaul between access points for extended coverage and flexible deployment without additional cabling.
Secure Guest Network – Multiple authentication options including SMS, Facebook Wi-Fi, and voucher-based access for hospitality and retail environments.
OFDMA & MU-MIMO – Wi-Fi 6 technologies that improve efficiency and throughput in high-density device environments.
Ceiling & Wall Mountable – Mounting kits included; discreet low-profile design suits commercial interiors.
Management VLAN, SNMP, SSH & Syslog – Full enterprise management feature set for IT administrators.
LED On/Off Control – Disable LEDs for discreet deployment in hospitality or residential environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an Omada controller to use the EAP610?
No. The EAP610 can be managed as a standalone access point via its web interface without any controller. An Omada controller (OC200, OC300, or Software Controller) is required only if you want centralised multi-AP management, Zero-Touch Provisioning, seamless roaming, or cloud access via the Omada app.
What PoE standard does the EAP610 require?
The EAP610 requires 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30W per port). It will not power on reliably from a standard 802.3af (15.4W) PoE switch. Ensure your PoE switch or injector supports 802.3at before installation. It also supports 12V DC power as an alternative.
What is Omada Mesh and when should I use it?
Omada Mesh allows EAP610 units to connect to each other wirelessly, extending Wi-Fi coverage without running additional Ethernet cables to every access point. This is useful for areas where cabling is difficult or cost-prohibitive. Note that wireless backhaul reduces available bandwidth compared to a wired Ethernet backhaul connection.
Does the EAP610 support seamless roaming?
Yes. When managed by an Omada controller, the EAP610 supports seamless roaming — devices automatically transition between access points without dropping video streams or voice calls. This requires multiple EAP610 (or compatible Omada EAP) units and an Omada controller.
What guest network authentication options are available?
The EAP610 supports multiple guest network authentication methods including SMS verification, Facebook Wi-Fi, and voucher-based access — making it well-suited for hotels, cafes, restaurants, and retail environments where controlled guest access is required.
Is the EAP610 suitable for outdoor installation?
No. The EAP610 is an indoor ceiling-mount access point with no IP weatherproof rating. For outdoor Wi-Fi coverage, TP-Link’s Omada outdoor EAP range (e.g. EAP225-Outdoor, EAP610-Outdoor) should be used instead.
Installer Note: The EAP610 requires 802.3at PoE+ — confirm your switch or injector supports this standard before installation. For multi-AP deployments with seamless roaming, an Omada controller (OC200, OC300, or Software Controller) is required. Standalone mode does not support seamless roaming or centralised management.
