WizSense AI · 8-Channel · 8-PoE · 4K
The Dahua DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ is a compact 8-channel WizSense AI NVR with 8 built-in PoE+ ports, 4K HDMI output, and a dedicated deep-learning chip for face recognition, perimeter protection and SMD Plus motion analytics. Record up to 16 MP per channel, plug all eight cameras directly into the back of the recorder, and view live or playback from your phone via DMSS — all from a chassis small enough to slip into a media cabinet.
This is the official Australia / NZ-market SKU (the AI/ANZ suffix), shipping with regional firmware, an AS/NZS-compliant 53 VDC adaptor, and a local 3-year warranty backed by CCTV Guru in Sydney. One SATA bay accepts a surveillance-grade HDD up to 16 TB — ideal for homes, small offices, retail shops and workshops running up to eight cameras.
8 PoE+ ports — one cable per camera
PoE Ports
8 × 10/100 · IEEE 802.3af/at
PoE Budget
72 W total · up to 25.5 W per port
Power + video on one cable
Each Cat6 run carries power and video back to the NVR — no power adaptors at every camera, no PoE switch in the rack. Eight ports cover most homes, small offices and retail shops in one box.
Powers high-draw cameras
25.5 W per port (PoE+ / 802.3at) handles IR-heavy bullets, mini PTZs, multi-sensor cameras and Dahua's active-deterrence units that exceed the basic PoE 15 W ceiling.
Gigabit uplink to your network
10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 to your switch or router — remote viewing, NAS backup and multi-site VMS pulls don't bottleneck on a slow link.
Australia / NZ-tuned firmware
The AI/ANZ suffix means region-correct firmware, AS/NZS-compliant 53 VDC adaptor, and a 3-year warranty backed by CCTV Guru in Sydney.

Frequently asked questions
How many cameras can the built-in PoE actually power?
All 8 ports deliver PoE+ up to 25.5 W each, but the total budget across the recorder is 72 W. In practice that's enough for 8 standard bullets/turrets at 5-9 W each, or about 2-3 high-power PTZ/IR-heavy cameras at 25 W each plus a few standard cams. Plan for ~9 W average per channel.
Does this NVR support AcuPick?
No — AcuPick is reserved for Dahua's 5-Series WizSense Plus NVRs paired with TiOC PV cameras. This is a 4-Series NVR, so it supports Quick Pick instead (the original colour/clothing-based target search). If you specifically need AcuPick, ask CCTV Guru about a 5-Series NVR.
Will it work with my non-Dahua IP cameras?
Yes. The NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 21.12) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. AI features run best with Dahua WizSense cameras, but standard recording works with any ONVIF-compliant camera.
What's the difference vs the 16-channel NVR4216-16P?
The 4216-16P has 16 IP channels, 16 PoE ports (130 W budget), 2 SATA bays (~32 TB), 4 alarm-in / 2 alarm-out terminals, RS-232 and an internal universal-voltage PSU. The 4108HS-8P (this model) is the compact 8-channel sibling — 8 PoE @ 72 W, single HDD bay, no alarm I/O, external 53 VDC adaptor. Same AI feature set on both.
What hard drive should I install?
Use a surveillance-rated SATA HDD up to 16 TB — Western Digital Purple or Seagate SkyHawk. Standard desktop drives are not rated for 24/7 recording and will fail prematurely. For 8 cameras at 4 MP H.265+ on motion-record, a 4-6 TB drive gives roughly 30 days; an 8 TB drive gives 45-60 days.
Is the DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ NDAA Section 889 compliant?
No. Dahua products are not currently NDAA Section 889 compliant. If NDAA compliance is required (federal, government or defence installs), choose a Uniview, Hanwha, Axis, Bosch or IDIS NVR instead — CCTV Guru can recommend an equivalent.
Can I view it on my phone?
Yes — install the free DMSS app on iOS or Android, scan the QR code on the NVR's local menu, and you'll have live view, playback, push notifications and two-way audio without configuring port forwarding or a static IP.
Does it have alarm input / output terminals?
No — this compact chassis omits physical alarm I/O and RS-232 to keep the footprint small. If you need to wire in PIRs, sirens or gate triggers via hardware terminals, step up to the 16-channel DHI-NVR4216-16P-AI/ANZ (4 alarm-in / 2 alarm-out) or use camera-side alarm linkage instead.

Key Features
Penta-brid Flexibility — 5 Camera Types, 1 Recorder
Accepts HDCVI, AHD, TVI, CVBS analogue cameras and IP cameras simultaneously. Reuse existing coaxial cable infrastructure while adding IP cameras on the same NVR. No rip-and-replace required.
4K Recording (8MP)
Records analogue channels at up to 4K resolution via HDCVI, and IP channels at up to 8MP. Capture faces, plates, and fine detail with confidence — even on wide-angle shots.
WizSense AI — SMD Plus on All 8 Channels
Smart Motion Detection Plus uses deep learning to distinguish humans and vehicles from animals, foliage, and environmental noise. Dramatically reduces false alarms and makes event search fast and precise.
Perimeter Protection (2 Channels)
Define virtual tripwires and intrusion zones on up to 2 analogue channels. The XVR triggers alerts only when a human or vehicle crosses the boundary — not every time a leaf blows past.
Face Detection & Recognition (2 Channels)
Detect and log faces on up to 2 channels. Search recorded footage by face attributes in seconds — no more scrubbing through hours of video to find a specific person.
Expandable to 16 IP Channels
The 8 BNC ports handle analogue cameras, but the XVR can simultaneously manage up to 16 IP camera channels at up to 8MP each — giving you a clear upgrade path without replacing the recorder.
H.265+ Compression
H.265+ dual-stream compression reduces storage consumption by up to 75% versus H.264 — meaning your HDD lasts longer and your bandwidth stays manageable.
Remote Access via DMSS & SmartPSS
Monitor live and recorded footage from anywhere via the DMSS mobile app (iOS & Android) or SmartPSS desktop client. P2P connection — no static IP or port forwarding required.
Recommended For
Analogue Camera Upgrades
Already have coaxial cable runs? Keep them. The Penta-brid XVR connects your existing analogue cameras while letting you add IP cameras on the same recorder — a cost-effective upgrade path.
Small Retail & Convenience Stores
8 channels covers entry, POS counter, stockroom, and car park. SMD Plus filters out false alarms from foot traffic — only genuine intrusion events trigger notifications.
Warehouses & Industrial Sites
Perimeter Protection on 2 channels secures loading docks and yard boundaries. Face detection logs who enters the office or server room.
Small Offices & Commercial Premises
Compact 1U chassis fits in a server rack or comms cabinet. Remote access via DMSS keeps management informed without on-site visits.
Residential Homes
8 channels covers every entry point, garage, and outdoor area. H.265+ compression maximises HDD retention time. DMSS app provides instant mobile alerts.
Schools & Childcare Centres
AI-powered SMD Plus reduces nuisance alerts in busy environments. Face detection supports access logging at entry points.
Add a Surveillance HDD
HDD Not Included — Choose Your Capacity
The DH-XVR5108HS-4KL-I3-S3 has 1 × 3.5" SATA HDD bay. We recommend a WD Purple or Seagate SkyHawk surveillance-grade drive — purpose-built for 24/7 DVR workloads. Contact our team for a retention calculation based on your camera count, resolution, and recording schedule.
Estimated Retention (8 × 5MP @ 15 fps)
2TB ≈ 7–10 days · 4TB ≈ 14–20 days · 8TB ≈ 28–40 days of continuous recording. H.265+ compression significantly extends these estimates versus standard H.264 recorders.

Why Australian installers choose the DS-7608NI-M2/8P
The M2/8P sits at the sweet spot for small-to-medium IP camera deployments: enough PoE ports for a complete 8-camera build, enough bandwidth for the latest 4K and 4K+ ColorVu cameras, and enough decoding muscle to display 2 × 32 MP streams simultaneously on a single 8K monitor. It's a future-proof recorder you won't outgrow on the next camera upgrade.
True 32 MP Input Support
Record every channel at up to 32 MP — the highest resolution tier supported in any consumer-grade NVR — so you can deploy Hikvision PanoVu, fisheye and 4K+ AcuSense cameras without throttling.
AcuSense Smart Detection
When paired with AcuSense cameras, the NVR runs deep-learning human and vehicle classification to filter out leaves, animals and shadows — slashing false alarms and making playback searches almost instant.
8 PoE Ports Built-In
Power and data over a single Cat6 run to each camera, up to 100 m. IEEE 802.3 af/at compliant with auto-detection — plug your cameras in and they appear automatically.
Dual-SATA, 32 TB Capacity
Two internal SATA bays accept enterprise-grade surveillance HDDs up to 16 TB each, giving you long-duration 24/7 recording even at full 4K bitrates.
8K HDMI Display Output
Drive an 8K (7680 × 4320) monitor at 30 Hz, or a 4K display at 60 Hz, plus a secondary VGA output for a second workstation view in your control room.
H.265+ Smart Compression
Hikvision's H.265+ codec reduces bitrate by up to 75% compared to H.264 — that means more days of footage on the same drive, or the same retention on a smaller drive.

The recorder ships as a chassis only. CCTV Guru offers pre-fitted Seagate SkyHawk or WD Purple surveillance drives from 2 TB to 16 TB — please choose your preferred capacity at checkout.
Will it work with non-Hikvision cameras?
Yes. The NVR is ONVIF 2.2 compliant and works with most third-party ONVIF IP cameras. For full AcuSense smart features you'll need genuine Hikvision AcuSense-compatible cameras.
Can I view recordings on my phone?
Yes — set up Hik-Connect on iOS or Android for free remote live view, playback and motion alerts. No port forwarding required.
What cameras does it pair best with?
Any Hikvision IP camera — but to unlock AcuSense smart features pair it with Hikvision AcuSense cameras such as the ColorVu, AcuSense Pro and DarkFighter ranges.
How many days of recording will I get?
At full 4K H.265+ on all 8 channels with 24/7 recording, expect roughly 7–10 days per 4 TB drive. Motion-only recording typically triples that figure.
Do you ship to my city?
We ship Australia-wide from our local warehouse — Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin — with most metro orders arriving in 1–3 business days.
Why buy Teltonika from CCTV Guru?

WizSense + AcuPick · 5-Series · 8-Channel · 32 MP · 4K
The Dahua DHI-NVR5208-8P-AI/ANZ is an 8-channel 5-Series WizSense AI NVR with AcuPick, 8 built-in PoE+ ports (all 8 supporting ePoE), 4K HDMI output and an industrial-grade AI chip that delivers the full 5-Series feature set in a smaller, channel-count form factor. Record up to 32 MP per channel, run AcuPick across all 8 channels, and stream 384 Mbps through a full-1U chassis with dual SATA bays, hardware alarm I/O, RS-232 + RS-485 serial, and N+M cluster failover.
This is the official Australia / NZ-market SKU (the AI/ANZ suffix), shipping with regional firmware, an internal 100–240 VAC universal PSU, and a local 3-year warranty backed by CCTV Guru in Sydney. The 5-Series in 8-channel format — choose this when you want AcuPick and the deeper analytics depth without paying for sixteen PoE ports you won't use.
AcuPick — find anyone, anything, in seconds
AcuPick Channels
Up to 8 ch · 1 event / channel / sec
Search Method
Image + attribute · front + back AI
Search by reference image
Click any person or vehicle in recorded video, hit AcuPick, and the NVR scans every channel for matches across hours or days — clothing colour, body shape, vehicle model and direction included.
Front- + back-end intelligence
Camera-side AI extracts the target attributes during recording; NVR-side AI runs the comparison. Higher accuracy than recorder-only search — and orders of magnitude faster than human review.
All 8 channels of AcuPick
Run AcuPick across every channel simultaneously when paired with WizSense IPC. Investigations that used to take an afternoon now finish before the kettle boils.
Beyond Quick Pick
AcuPick is the next generation of Dahua's Quick Pick — more attributes, more accuracy, and supports both people and vehicles natively. Exclusive to the 5-Series NVR family.
5-Series WizSense AI — depth without compromise
Industrial AI Chip
Same depth as the 16-ch flagship
Face Database
20 databases · 20,000 images
Face Recognition (2 ch by NVR)
2 channels of full face detection + recognition by the recorder (12 face snapshots/sec each), or up to 8 channels using camera-side detection feeding NVR-side recognition (16 face snapshots/sec). Twenty face databases.
Perimeter Protection (4 ch)
4 NVR-side channels of tripwire and intrusion analytics with 10 IVS rules each — double the 4-Series. Human/vehicle classification cuts false alarms from animals, weather and lighting.
SMD Plus on 8 channels
Smart Motion Detection Plus runs deep-learning second-pass classification across all 8 channels — every camera benefits, no channels left out.
ANPR by camera (8 channels)
Pair with Dahua ANPR cameras for full 8-channel licence-plate recognition feeding a 20,000-plate database with blocklist / allowlist control. Ideal for site gates, carparks and fleet yards.
Video Metadata search
Search recorded video by structured attributes — top colour, bottom colour, hat, bag, umbrella, gender, age, vehicle make / model / colour / plate, helmet wear and more.
N+M cluster failover
Pair multiple 5-Series NVRs in an N+M cluster — backup recorders automatically take over if a primary fails, ensuring zero footage loss for critical sites.

Frequently asked questions
What is AcuPick and how is it different to Quick Pick?
AcuPick is Dahua's next-generation video search technology — it uses BOTH camera-side and NVR-side AI to extract rich attributes (clothing, body shape, vehicle make/model/colour/plate, direction, action) from every frame as it records, then lets you search by a reference image OR by combined attributes. Quick Pick (on the 4-Series) does single-attribute colour/clothing search only. AcuPick is faster, more accurate, and supports both people and vehicles natively.
Do I need special cameras for AcuPick?
Yes — AcuPick relies on camera-side intelligence to extract attributes during recording. You need Dahua's AcuPick-ready cameras (typically the TiOC PV and 5-Series WizSense Plus IPC families). Standard WizSense cameras still record and recognise faces, but the full AcuPick search depth needs paired AcuPick IPCs.
What does ePoE on all 8 ports give me?
Extended PoE on every port — long-distance Cat6 runs at reduced speed. Each port supports 100 Mbps up to 300 m or 10 Mbps up to 800 m (most IP cameras work fine at 10 Mbps for sub-stream + main-stream H.265+). Eliminates intermediate switches on long perimeter, carpark or warehouse runs. A real advantage over the 4-Series, which doesn't have ePoE on any port.
Should I get the 5208 or the 16-channel 5216?
If you need more than 8 cameras now or expect to scale within the warranty period, choose the 5216-16P — it's the same hardware platform but doubles the PoE port count and AcuPick channels. If 8 channels covers your site and you'd rather save the budget for better cameras or longer storage, the 5208 (this model) is the sweet spot — same chassis, same AI features, same warranty.
Should I get the 5208 or the cheaper 4208-8P?
Same 8 channels, same alarm I/O and 2-HDD chassis — but the 5208 (this model) adds AcuPick, 32 MP support, 384 Mbps bandwidth, ePoE on all 8 ports, RS-485 serial, USB 3.0, video metadata search, N+M cluster failover and iSCSI. Choose the 5208 if AcuPick or 32 MP cameras are on the roadmap; choose the 4208 if you're certain you'll stay on 16 MP or lower and don't need ePoE.
Is the DHI-NVR5208-8P-AI/ANZ NDAA Section 889 compliant?
No. Dahua products are not currently NDAA Section 889 compliant. If NDAA compliance is required (federal, government or defence installs), choose a Uniview, Hanwha, Axis, Bosch or IDIS NVR instead — CCTV Guru can recommend an equivalent.
Will it work with my non-Dahua IP cameras?
Yes. The NVR5208-8P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 22.06) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. Standard recording works with any ONVIF camera; AcuPick and the deeper AI search features require Dahua WizSense / AcuPick IPCs.
How much storage do I need for 8 cameras?
For 8 × 8 MP cameras at H.265+ on motion-record, allow ~10-12 TB for 30 days of retention. A pair of 8 TB or 10 TB surveillance-grade drives (WD Purple, Seagate SkyHawk) covers most use cases. If on-board capacity isn't enough, iSCSI lets you expand onto network-attached storage.

25.5 W per port (PoE+ / 802.3at) handles IR-heavy bullets, mini PTZs and active-deterrence cameras that exceed the basic 15 W PoE ceiling.
WizSense AI — deep-learning that knows people from leaves
Dedicated AI Chip
Independent deep-learning processor
Targeted Alerts
Human + vehicle classification only
Face Recognition
1 channel of face detection + recognition by the NVR (12 face snapshots/sec), or extend to 8 channels using camera-side detection feeding NVR-side recognition. Up to 10 face databases and 20,000 face images.
Perimeter Protection
2 channels of tripwire and intrusion analytics, 10 IVS rules per channel, with human/vehicle secondary recognition to suppress false alarms from animals, leaves and changing light.
SMD Plus on 4 channels
Smart Motion Detection Plus runs a deep-learning second pass on motion events, classifying targets as person or vehicle so only real events make it to your phone.
ANPR by camera (4 channels)
When paired with Dahua ANPR cameras, the NVR stores up to 20,000 number plates with full blocklist / allowlist control — ideal for site gates, fleet yards or staff carparks.
Quick Pick search
Paste a person or vehicle still from any recorded clip and Quick Pick scans the timeline for matches — clothing colour, vehicle colour and direction included. Pair with WizSense IPCs to enable.
AI Search across cameras
Search recorded video by metadata (gender, age group, glasses, mask, beard, vehicle colour, plate, direction) or upload a face image and the NVR finds every appearance across all channels.

16 MP recording · 4K display · 32 TB storage
16 MP per channel input
Future-proof headroom for high-resolution Dahua bullets, domes and multi-sensors. Also handles 12 MP, 8 MP (4K), 6 MP, 5 MP and 4 MP IP cameras from any ONVIF brand.
4K HDMI + 1080p VGA
Simultaneous output on both heads — drive a 4K spot monitor in the lobby and a 1080p control PC in the office. Configurable as the same view or independent layouts.
256 Mbps bandwidth
256 Mbps incoming / record / outgoing with AI off, 180 Mbps when WizSense features are active — comfortable for 8 cameras at 8 MP each.
Smart H.265+ for half the storage
AI-tuned H.265+ encoding cuts bitrate on static background pixels and keeps detail on moving targets — roughly half the storage and bandwidth of standard H.264.
Gigabit network uplink
10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 to your switch or router — remote viewing, NAS backup and multi-site VMS pulls don't bottleneck on a slow link.
9-screen split layouts
1 / 4 / 8 / 9 split-screen layouts on both monitor outputs. Drag-and-drop channel reorder, instant playback, and smart-search-from-thumbnail in the local GUI.
Built for installers, simple for end-users
4 alarm-in / 2 alarm-out
Physical terminal block on the rear panel — wire in PIRs, door sensors, sirens or gate triggers for hardware-level event linkage and external relay control.
ONVIF 21.12 (T / S / G)
Drops into any ONVIF VMS and natively accepts cameras from Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon — plus Dahua's full IP range.
DMSS mobile app
Free iOS / Android viewer with live view, playback, push notifications, two-way audio and P2P remote access — no static IP, no port forwarding, no DDNS account needed.
Local + web GUI
Connect a mouse and HDMI monitor for full local setup, or use any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) for full remote configuration.
Security Baseline 2.3
Dahua's hardened security baseline — strong-password enforcement, HTTPS, IP filter, account lockout, audit logging and cybersecurity exception alarms out of the box.

NVR4108HS-8P vs NVR4208-8P — how it compares
Both 8-channel siblings share the same WizSense AI feature set, 8 PoE+ ports and 72 W PoE budget. The differences sit in storage, hardware alarm I/O, power supply and chassis size — choose the 4108HS for a compact desktop install, or the 4208 (this model) when you need redundant storage and wired alarm integration.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference vs the compact NVR4108HS-8P?
The 4108HS is a smaller, lighter chassis with 1 HDD bay, no physical alarm terminals, and an external 53 VDC power adaptor. The 4208-8P (this model) uses the same full-size chassis as the 16-channel 4216 — 2 HDD bays for double the storage, 4 alarm-in / 2 alarm-out terminals on the rear panel, and an internal 100-240 VAC PSU with a standard kettle cord. Same 8 channels, same WizSense AI, same 72 W PoE budget.
How many cameras can the built-in PoE actually power?
All 8 ports deliver PoE+ up to 25.5 W each, but the total budget across the recorder is 72 W. In practice that's enough for 8 standard bullets/turrets at 5-9 W each, or roughly 2-3 high-power PTZ/IR-heavy cameras at 25 W each plus a few standard cams.
Yes. The NVR4208-8P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 21.12) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. AI features run best with Dahua WizSense cameras, but standard recording works with any ONVIF-compliant camera.
What hard drives should I install?
Use surveillance-rated SATA HDDs up to 16 TB each — Western Digital Purple or Seagate SkyHawk. Two drives can be configured as one large pool or kept as separate disk groups for camera-segregated recording. For 8 cameras at 4 MP H.265+, a pair of 6-8 TB drives gives ~60-90 days of retention.
Is the DHI-NVR4208-8P-AI/ANZ NDAA Section 889 compliant?
What can I wire into the alarm terminals?
The 4 alarm inputs accept dry-contact NO/NC devices — PIR motion sensors, door reed switches, glass-break detectors, panic buttons or external trigger relays. The 2 alarm outputs are dry-contact relays that can drive sirens, strobe lights, electric gate triggers or a second relay stage. Linkable to record / snapshot / push-notification events in the NVR menu.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the NVR1008H come with a hard drive?
No. The VIGI NVR1008H does not include a hard drive. You will need to install a compatible 3.5-inch SATA HDD (up to 10TB) before the unit can record footage. We recommend using a surveillance-grade HDD such as a Western Digital Purple or Seagate SkyHawk for 24/7 operation.
How many cameras can I connect?
The NVR1008H supports up to 8 IP cameras. Based on TP-Link lab testing, it can handle up to eight 4MP cameras simultaneously within its 80Mbps video access bandwidth.
Does it work with non-TP-Link cameras?
Yes. The NVR1008H is ONVIF-compliant, meaning it is compatible with IP cameras from other brands that support the ONVIF protocol. For full feature integration including smart detection and the VIGI app, TP-Link VIGI cameras are recommended.
How long will footage be stored?
Storage duration depends on the number of cameras, resolution, and recording mode. Based on TP-Link testing with a 3MP VIGI camera and a 10TB HDD, approximately 720 days of footage can be stored. Higher resolution cameras or continuous recording will reduce this figure.
Can I access footage remotely?
Yes. The free VIGI app (iOS and Android) allows you to view live footage, play back recordings, and receive motion detection alerts from anywhere with an internet connection.

Hikvision VPro · AcuSeek AI · 8 CH · 8 PoE
The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/VPro brings Hikvision's flagship VPro AcuSeek AI down to a compact 8-channel format — perfect for Australian homes, retail counters, small offices, restaurants and clinics that want enterprise-grade smart features without enterprise pricing. Ships as a chassis only, ready for your choice of surveillance-grade HDD (sold separately or available pre-fitted at checkout).
At its core is Guanlan, Hikvision's large-scale AI model. Instead of scrubbing through hours of footage, you simply describe what you're looking for in plain English — *"a person in a red jacket at the front door yesterday afternoon"* — and the NVR finds it instantly. Add image-based AcuSearch, 8-channel facial recognition, Motion Detection 2.0 and on-device perimeter protection, and you have a recorder that doesn't just film events — it understands them.

AcuSeek — search your CCTV like you search Google
This is the feature that changes everything. AcuSeek is powered by Hikvision's Guanlan large-scale AI model, and it lets you query your recorded footage with natural language. Type what you're looking for and the NVR returns the matching clips across all 8 channels in seconds — no manual review required. For small Australian sites with 4–8 cameras, it turns hours of investigation into seconds.
Natural-Language Video Search
Type *"a person carrying a backpack at the side gate"* and AcuSeek returns matching clips across all 8 channels — no manual review required, no event tagging in advance.
AcuSearch by Image
Upload a reference image of a person or vehicle and AcuSearch finds every other appearance in your footage. Perfect for tracking suspects, missing persons or specific vehicles across multiple cameras.
8-Channel Face Recognition
Live facial recognition across every channel — enrol staff, family, regulars or banned persons and get instant push alerts on your phone when they appear.
Motion Detection 2.0
AI-powered motion detection classifies movement as human, vehicle, or other — eliminating wind, rain and shadow false triggers for genuinely smart alerts.
Perimeter Protection
Deep-learning line-crossing, intrusion and region-entry detection — far more accurate than traditional motion-zone setups, with no fences or beams required.
Powered by Guanlan AI
Built on Hikvision's proprietary large-scale AI model, the NVR continues to improve recognition accuracy through firmware updates — no cloud, no subscriptions.
Face recognition that works like your phone — but for your CCTV
You know how your iPhone Photos app automatically groups pictures of "Mum," "James," or "the kids"? The DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/VPro does exactly the same thing — but for your live security cameras. Snap a photo of each family member (or staff member, regular customer, courier, gardener) and add their name. From then on, when the NVR sees them at your gate, front door or counter, you get a push notification on your phone that says "James arrived at the front door" instead of just *"motion detected."*
It also works the other way around. Add a banned customer, a former employee, or anyone you don't want on the premises to a watchlist — and the NVR alerts you the instant they appear on any camera. Up to 100,000 faces can be stored locally on the recorder itself — no cloud subscription, no facial data leaving your premises, no monthly fees, ever.
Unlike battery-powered "smart" cameras that only recognise faces at the doorbell (and lose accuracy over time), the VPro NVR runs the same enterprise-grade Guanlan AI engine used in Hikvision's commercial sites — applied to every camera, every angle, around the clock.

Frequently asked questions
What is AcuSeek and how does it work?
AcuSeek is Hikvision's natural-language video search powered by the Guanlan AI model. Instead of filtering by date, channel or event type, you describe what you're looking for in plain English — and the NVR returns matching clips across all 8 channels in seconds.
Does it come with a hard drive?
This SKU ships as a chassis only — choose your preferred HDD capacity (2 TB to 16 TB per bay) at checkout, or fit your own surveillance-grade drives later. We recommend Seagate SkyHawk or WD Purple for 24/7 reliability.
Do I need special cameras for the AI features?
No. The VPro NVR runs AcuSeek, AcuSearch and facial recognition on any compatible Hikvision or ONVIF IP camera. Pairing with Hikvision AcuSense / ColorVu cameras improves accuracy further.
Are there ongoing subscription fees for the AI features?
No. All AI processing — AcuSeek, AcuSearch, facial recognition, ANPR — runs on-board the NVR. There are no recurring cloud fees, ever.
How many days of recording will I get?
At full 4K H.265+ on all 8 channels with 24/7 recording, expect roughly 7–10 days per 4 TB drive. Motion-only recording typically triples that figure. Fit two 16 TB drives for months of retention.
Do you ship to my city?
We ship Australia-wide from our local warehouse — Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Darwin — with most metro orders arriving in 1–3 business days.

Can this NVR support third-party IP cameras outside of IDIS?
Yes. While native plug-and-play functionality is fully optimized for IDIS DirectIP cameras, the DR-2508P-A also includes standard ONVIF protocol support. This allows you to discover and record profile-compliant third-party network cameras.
How does the Smart Failover storage system work?
If the network switch loses connection to the NVR, the cameras immediately record video onto their internal SD cards. Once the connection is restored, the NVR automatically ingests and syncs the missing video, leaving no gaps in your footage.
Can I access my camera live streams remotely from a mobile phone?
Yes. The system connects seamlessly to the IDIS Mobile app and IDIS Solution Suite software. It features a unique FEN (For Every Network) setup, allowing quick remote access without tedious router adjustments or static IP setups.
What happens if the total power draw from my cameras goes past 120W?
The system's integrated 8-port switch is strictly capped at a 120W continuous delivery threshold. If you need to deploy several long-range PTZs or specialized multi-sensor cameras with heavy draws, you can use external midspan PoE injectors to offload power demand.
