How the builder works
- Local NVR system — pick cameras by style and resolution (2MP 1080p up to 8MP 4K, with AI, Dual-Light and 4K shown as badges), then an All-in-One PoE NVR (ND9326P / ND9426P / ND9542P) or an Enterprise recording server (NR9581 / NR9682). We auto-match the channel count and size surveillance hard drives to your retention target.
- VORTEX cloud system — choose AI cloud cameras (IT939 / IT839 / FD839) that ship with a 1-year XPRO licence and 256 GB edge storage, then add an optional VORTEX cloud-recording plan (30–365 day retention). No NVR or hard drive required.
- Storage — VIVOTEK NVRs ship bare so you choose capacity; set a retention target and we pick the right surveillance drives (2–16 TB) for the recorder's bay count.
- Mounting & add-ons — add VIVOTEK wall brackets, pole adapters and conduit boxes, plus optional PoE switches / injectors and IP horn speakers.
VIVOTEK CCTV system — frequently asked questions
What are WDR Pro, SNV and Smart VCA?
WDR Pro balances bright and dark areas in high-contrast scenes, while SNV (Supreme Night Visibility) keeps low-light footage clean and usable. Smart VCA is VIVOTEK's deep-learning video-content-analysis suite — line crossing, intrusion, loitering and accurate human/vehicle classification with fewer false alarms. Many models also run Trend Micro IoT cybersecurity on the edge.
Which VIVOTEK recorder should I choose — ND or NR?
The ND-series All-in-One NVRs (ND9326P 8-ch, ND9426P 16-ch, ND9542P 32-ch) have a built-in PoE switch so cameras plug straight in — best for most homes and businesses. The NR-series recording servers (NR9581 32-ch, NR9682 64-ch) are 8-bay enterprise units for large, high-retention sites and use a separate PoE switch. The builder picks the smallest recorder that covers your channel count.
How much storage do I need for 30 days of recording?
VIVOTEK Smart Stream III (H.265) dramatically reduces bandwidth and storage. As a rough guide, eight 5MP cameras need around 6–10TB for 30 days depending on scene activity and recording mode. Because VIVOTEK NVRs ship without drives, the builder sizes surveillance hard drives to your cameras, resolution and retention target — and respects each recorder's bay count.
What is the VORTEX cloud option?
VORTEX is VIVOTEK's cloud platform (VSaaS). The VORTEX cloud cameras record to on-board edge storage and stream to the cloud — no NVR required. They ship with a 1-year XPRO licence; you can add a per-camera VORTEX cloud storage plan (30 to 365-day retention) for off-site, encrypted recording you can reach from anywhere.
