Apple HomeKit or Tapo — which should I choose?
If you use an iPhone/iPad and want to control everything with Siri and the Apple Home app, choose the Eve (HomeKit/Matter) ecosystem. If you use Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, or want the lowest-cost entry, choose Tapo. We can mix ecosystems on a quote if you need to — just ask.
Do I need a hub or bridge?
Most Tapo plugs, bulbs and strips connect straight to your Wi-Fi with no hub. The Tapo T110 sensor and S200D dimmer do require a Tapo hub. Eve devices work over Bluetooth out of the box; for remote access and automations with Thread/Matter you'll want an Apple HomePod or Apple TV acting as a home hub. Not sure? Will these work with Matter?
Yes — the Eve Matter range (Energy, Motion, Door & Window) and Tapo's Wi-Fi devices are designed for modern smart-home standards, so they slot into Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa and keep working as your setup grows.
Can I add cameras to my smart home?
