Frequently Asked Questions
Does it need a separate power supply if I use PoE?No. A single Cat 5e/6 Ethernet run from a PoE 802.3af switch carries both data and power. The 12 VDC input is only needed if you're powering the monitor over Wi-Fi (no Ethernet) or in a legacy install.
Can I view Hikvision IP cameras from the indoor station?Yes. Tap into any Hikvision IP camera on your network — during a call, or standby. Useful for checking the driveway camera before unlocking the front door, or the loading dock from the reception monitor.
What are the benefits of the flush-mount design?The flush bracket recesses the monitor into the wall cavity so the screen sits nearly flush with the plaster — no protruding chassis. Better aesthetics for luxury villas, boutique reception, apartment lobbies. Also more resistant to knocks and tampering than a surface mount.
Can I answer the intercom from my phone if I'm not home?Yes — the indoor station links to Hik-Connect on Android and iOS. Incoming door calls forward to your phone, you can talk to the visitor from anywhere and unlock the door remotely. Works over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
How many door stations can I connect?The Hikvision IP intercom system supports up to 8 door stations per indoor station and up to 4,000 indoor stations per project — from a single-villa install to a large apartment complex. Master stations can be added for a concierge / building manager.
What door strikes and locks does it work with?The 2 relay outputs are dry-contact and configurable — compatible with any standard electric strike, magnetic lock or gate motor that accepts a dry-contact input. Some door stations also have their own relay outputs — you can wire the strike from the door station side instead if it's closer to the door.
