Does this kit need a subscription?
No. The UDR7 records UniFi Protect footage locally with no monthly fees or cloud account required.
Do I need a separate NVR?
No. The UDR7 has a built-in UniFi Protect NVR. Just add a larger microSD card for more recording time.
How do the cameras connect?
The G6 Instant cameras connect over WiFi to the UDR7 and are powered by the included USB adapters (or an optional PoE-to-USB-C adapter).
What's the difference between the 2 and 4 camera packs?
Only the number of G6 Instant cameras — both packs include one UDR7. Choose 2 cameras for smaller homes or 4 for wider coverage.
Can I use the cameras outdoors?
They're IPX5 splash-resistant — ideal for indoor and sheltered/covered outdoor spots. For fully exposed outdoor areas, choose an IP66 camera like the G6 Bullet or Turret.
Is this kit NDAA compliant?
Yes. Both the UDR7 and G6 Instant are NDAA Section 889 compliant.
