Does the G6 Turret require a UniFi Protect subscription?
No. UniFi Protect runs locally on a UniFi Network Video Recorder (NVR) or UniFi Dream Machine. There are no monthly fees or cloud subscriptions required.
What NVR is required to run the G6 Turret?
Any UniFi Protect-compatible NVR — such as the UniFi Network Video Recorder (UNVR), UniFi Dream Machine Pro, or UniFi Dream Wall — running UniFi Protect firmware.
Is it suitable for outdoor use in Australia?
Yes. IP66 weatherproofing and IK04 impact resistance make it fully suited to Australian outdoor environments including coastal, high-humidity, and high-UV areas.
What is the difference between White and Black versions?
Identical in specs and performance — only the colour differs. White suits light-coloured soffits and walls; Black suits dark surfaces and discreet installations.
Can it detect licence plates?
Yes. The Multi-TOPS AI engine includes licence plate recognition as one of its detection categories, alongside people, vehicles, animals, and faces.
Does it work with third-party NVRs via RTSP?
The G6 Turret is designed for the UniFi Protect ecosystem. Limited RTSP support may be available but full AI features require a UniFi Protect NVR.
