Retention depends on your settings. Figures assume all 10 × 8MP cameras recording continuously in H.265+ at ~4 Mbps. Recording on motion or AI events, a lower frame rate, or fewer cameras will extend storage time considerably; a higher bitrate will reduce it. Estimates are a guide only.

›Power & expansion: the NVR's 140 W PoE budget comfortably runs all ten 8MP cameras, leaving 6 spare ports/channels. If you later expand toward a full 16 cameras, add a small external PoE switch for the extra cameras.

›Cabling & sealing: run solid-copper Cat6 to each camera (up to 100 m) and seal outdoor RJ-45 joins with a junction box or weatherproof tape against moisture and salt air.

›NVR & storage: fit surveillance-grade HDDs into the SATA bays before first boot, and place the recorder in a cool, dust-free, ventilated spot for reliable 24/7 recording.

How does Active Defense work?
On AI detection of a person or vehicle, the camera flashes its white light and sounds an audible warning, and you can speak live through two-way audio.
Will it alert me to people and vehicles only?
Yes — Human & Vehicle Classification plus line-crossing and intrusion rules filter out irrelevant movement to reduce false alarms.
