It pairs one iDS-2CD7A46G2/P-IZHSY 4MP DeepinView ANPR bullet — purpose-built for on-camera licence-plate recognition day and night — with four DS-2CD2386G2-IU 8MP 4K AcuSense turrets for sharp overview and detail, plus a DS-7608NI-M2/8P 8-channel PoE NVR. Aim the ANPR bullet down your entry lane to read every plate that comes and goes, and place the AcuSense turrets for human/vehicle coverage everywhere else. All cameras run on the NVR's 8 built-in PoE ports over a single Cat6 cable per camera, with three spare channels to grow.

Installation Notes

›Mount the ANPR bullet low and shallow: aim it down the entry lane so the plate fills a good share of the frame, and keep the vertical angle under ~30° — steep top-down angles distort the plate and drop read accuracy.

›Set the right capture distance: the 2.8–12 mm ANPR lens reads plates best when mounted roughly 3–10 m from the plate line. For longer lanes or boomgates 10–40 m back, use the 8–32 mm variant instead.

›Tame headlight glare at night: let the 150 dB WDR and a faster shutter handle oncoming headlights — the camera's plate-capture / checkpoint mode raises shutter speed to freeze fast plates and cut bloom from reflective plates.

›Power and cabling: the ANPR bullet needs PoE+ (802.3at) for its heater and motor — the DS-7608NI-M2/8P supplies this on its ports. Run solid-copper Cat6 from each camera back to the NVR; seal outdoor RJ-45 joins even at IP67.

Will it read plates at night and at speed?
Yes. The ANPR bullet's DarkFighter 2.0 sensor pulls a clean plate at 0.0005 lux in colour and 0 lux on IR, and 150 dB WDR cuts headlight glare. Front-installation checkpoint mode captures vehicles up to 120 km/h (side up to 80 km/h) with ≥98% recognition accuracy — though for best results at highway speed, mount it as a dedicated front-facing checkpoint camera.
Does the ANPR need a separate server or licence?
No. The licence-plate recognition runs entirely on the camera. The NVR just receives and stores the plate metadata — no per-channel ANPR licence and no recurring cloud fee.
Does it recognise Australian plates?
Yes. Hikvision's G2 LPR engine covers 124+ countries including all Australian state and territory plate formats, plus custom, motorcycle and stacked-character plates.
Is a hard drive included?
No — the NVR ships without an HDD so you can size storage to your retention. The dual SATA bays take up to 32 TB total; add a surveillance-grade drive to suit.
Can I add more cameras later?
Yes. The 8-channel NVR runs 5 cameras here, leaving 3 spare channels and PoE ports for additional Hikvision cameras with no extra hardware.
