Does the G6 Instant connect over WiFi?
Yes. It connects to your network over WiFi and is powered by the included USB-C adapter — no Ethernet cable required.
Does it need a subscription?
No. Footage records locally to a UniFi Protect host (and/or an on-camera microSD card) with no monthly fees.
Can it recognise faces and number plates?
Yes. The Multi-TOPS AI engine includes face recognition and number-plate recognition, plus people, vehicle, and animal detection.
Can I power it over PoE?
Yes, with an optional PoE-to-USB-C adapter — otherwise use the included 5 V/2 A USB adapter.
Is it weatherproof?
It's IPX5 splash-resistant — ideal for indoor and sheltered/covered outdoor spots, but not for fully exposed weather.
