Does the DS-KIS602 include a PoE switch?Yes. The kit includes a 4-port PoE switch to power and connect the door station and indoor monitor over network cabling.
Can I answer the door from my phone?Yes. With Hik-Connect you can view callers, talk and unlock remotely when the system is configured correctly.
Can it unlock an electric strike or gate?Yes. The door station has two lock relay outputs. Final compatibility depends on your strike, mag lock or gate controller and wiring.
Does the door station need a separate bracket?The DS-KD8003-IME1 is modular and uses a surface or flush mount bracket. This kit is configured for surface mounting.
Is it weatherproof?The door station is IP65 rated for outdoor entry use. A weather shield is still recommended in fully exposed positions.

Is this really 4K, or just 8 MP?Yes, it's genuine 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD) at 8 MP. Recording happens at 20 fps at full 4K (vs 30 fps on the current G3 generation) — perfectly usable for surveillance, but step down to 4 MP if you need 30 fps for fast-motion scenes.
Why is this on clearance?Hikvision has released the G3 generation with ColorVu 3.0, Smart Hybrid Light and the Live-Guard /SL package. We're clearing remaining G2 stock to make room for the new range. The G2 is a genuinely good camera at the clearance price — it's just one generation behind.
What's the difference between G2 and G3?The G3 adds ColorVu 3.0 (24/7 colour at 0.0005 lux), Smart Hybrid Light (white + IR blend), the /SL Live-Guard package (white strobe + 110 dB speaker + 2-way audio), NEMA 4X anti-corrosion housing (Y suffix), F1.0 super-aperture lens, and 130 dB scene-adaptive WDR. Does it run on a standard Hikvision NVR PoE port?Yes — PoE 802.3af (standard PoE, ~7.5 W), the lowest PoE class. Runs on any Hikvision NVR's built-in PoE port, no special supply needed.
Can I install this on a coastal site?Honestly — not directly exposed. This camera does not have anti-corrosion housing (no -Y suffix variant in this G2 family). For coastal Australian installs within 2 km of saltwater, choose the G3 with NEMA 4X (-Y suffix) instead, or mount the G2 under deep cover (eave, undercover carport, sheltered porch).
How does AcuSense filter false alarms?AcuSense runs deep-learning classification on the camera itself — same engine as the current G3. It identifies whether motion is a human, a vehicle or "other" (animals, foliage, rain, headlight glare). Only human / vehicle detections trigger alerts. Typical sites see ~90 % fewer false alerts than motion-only cameras.

What's the difference between the M8 and the DS-9632NI-M16?
Same 32 channels, same 320 Mbps bandwidth. The M16 has double the SATA bays (16 vs 8) and double the maximum storage (256 TB vs 128 TB), in a slightly taller 3U chassis. Choose the M8 for normal retention needs and tight rack space; choose the M16 if you need 6–12 months of 4K retention.
Why choose this over a PoE NVR like the DS-7732NI-M4/24P?
The DS-7732NI-M4/24P has 24 built-in PoE ports, which is ideal for greenfield small-to-medium sites. The DS-9632NI-M8 has no PoE but offers 8 SATA bays (vs 4), RAID + N+M hot spare, dual HDMI + dual VGA, dual Ethernet and an enterprise 2U chassis — better for sites that already have managed PoE switches and need real enterprise features.
Is there a redundant-power version available?
Yes — the DS-9632NI-M8/R has dual hot-swappable PSUs for sites where power redundancy is mandatory (data centres, critical infrastructure, government). Contact our Australian team if you need the /R variant.
Does it come with hard drives?
The recorder ships as a chassis only. CCTV Guru offers pre-fitted enterprise surveillance drives from 8 TB up to 16 TB per bay — choose your RAID-ready configuration at checkout.
What RAID levels are supported?
RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 are all supported across the 8 SATA bays, plus N+M hot spare. For most enterprise deployments we recommend RAID 5 (single drive redundancy) or RAID 6 (dual drive redundancy).

Important Install Note — PoE+ Required
This camera draws up to 15 W when illuminator, heater, speaker and PTZ are all active. It requires 802.3at PoE+, not standard 802.3af, or a local 12 VDC 2 A supply. A typical 802.3af switch will not deliver enough power under peak load — the camera may run but may brown-out the warm light or active deterrence on event. On cable runs approaching the 100 m Ethernet limit, plan for a midspan injector or local DC.

Is this a full PTZ or just pan-tilt?
It's a "mini-PT" — full pan (355°), full tilt (–15° to +90°) and motorised optical zoom (5×). It is NOT a full speed dome — the pan stops 5° short of endless rotation, and the slew rate is slower than a full PTZ. For continuous 360° endless pan, see Dahua's full PTZ range.
Does it support AcuPick?
No. AcuPick is reserved for the higher-tier WizSense and WizMind cameras. This SD3 build has Auto Tracking Lite and SMD 3.0 — strong AI for an entry-tier mini-PT, but no attribute-based recorded-video search. For AcuPick attribute search, look at the WizSense 3 Smart Dual Light bullets or X-Spans PTZs.
Is this a TiOC camera?
Yes — the A-PV1 suffix is the TiOC active-deterrence indicator. The camera includes red/blue strobe with three flash frequencies, an 11-sound audible alarm library (with 10 custom upload slots) and a built-in speaker.
What power does it need?
PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) or 12 VDC at 2 A. Maximum draw is 15 W with illuminator, PTZ, speaker and heating glass all active — too close to the 12.95 W ceiling of standard 802.3af, so plan for 802.3at PoE+ or a local DC supply.
How far can it see at night?
Smart Dual Light gives 50 m on IR and 30 m on warm light. The 5× optical zoom can pull a target into the frame at the IR limit — useful for driveways and small carparks where the camera doesn't need 100 m+ reach.
Does it have a built-in speaker?
Yes — built-in speaker for active-deterrence audio playback. The speaker and the line-out audio output are mutually exclusive — use one or the other. Same applies to the built-in mic and line-in audio.
Does it work with third-party NVRs?
Yes — ONVIF Profile S, G and T are supported, so it will record to any ONVIF-compatible third-party NVR. Active deterrence triggers and IVS event metadata only push end-to-end on a genuine Dahua AI NVR.
Can the camera follow a target automatically?
Yes — Auto Tracking Lite lets the camera lock onto a target the IVS classifies as a person or vehicle and keep it framed through the duration of the alarm. Lighter than full WizTracking but plenty for residential and SMB use cases.
Can I view the camera live on my phone?

What is AcuPick and how is it different to Quick Pick?
AcuPick is Dahua's next-generation video search technology — it uses BOTH camera-side and NVR-side AI to extract rich attributes (clothing, body shape, vehicle make/model/colour/plate, direction, action) from every frame as it records, then lets you search by a reference image OR by combined attributes. Quick Pick (on the 4-Series) does single-attribute colour/clothing search only. AcuPick is faster, more accurate, and supports both people and vehicles natively.
Do I need special cameras for AcuPick?
Yes — AcuPick relies on camera-side intelligence to extract attributes during recording. You need Dahua's WizSense-Plus AcuPick-ready cameras (typically the TiOC PV and 5-Series IPC families). Standard WizSense cameras will still record and recognise faces, but the full AcuPick search depth needs paired AcuPick IPCs.
What does ePoE on ports 1–8 give me?
Extended PoE — long-distance Cat6 runs at reduced speed. Ports 1–8 support 100 Mbps up to 300 m or 10 Mbps up to 800 m (most IP cameras work fine at 10 Mbps for sub-stream + main-stream H.265+). Eliminates intermediate switches on long perimeter or carpark runs. Ports 9–16 run standard PoE+ at up to 100 m.
What is N+M cluster and when do I need it?
N+M cluster lets you pair multiple 5-Series NVRs so that backup recorders automatically take over if a primary unit fails — zero footage loss for critical sites. Useful for casinos, banks, transport hubs, hospitals and any install where a single-recorder outage would breach SLA. Configure via the NVR's local GUI or DSS-Pro.
Will it work with my non-Dahua IP cameras?
Yes. The NVR5216-16P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 22.06) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. Standard recording works with any ONVIF camera; AcuPick and the deeper AI search features require Dahua WizSense / AcuPick IPCs.
How much storage do I need for 16 cameras?
For 16 × 8 MP cameras at H.265+ on motion-record, allow ~20-25 TB for 30 days of retention. Two 16 TB drives in disk-group config will hit roughly 45-60 days. If on-board capacity isn't enough, the NVR supports iSCSI for network-attached storage expansion.
Can I view it on my phone?
Yes — install the free DMSS app on iOS or Android, scan the QR code on the NVR's local menu, and you'll have live view, playback, push notifications and two-way audio without configuring port forwarding or a static IP.
