Hikvision TandemVu · Dual-Sensor PTZ · 6MP Panoramic + 4MP 42× · DarkFighter 2.0 · 300 m IR · Auto-Tracking 3.0 · NEMA 4X
Hikvision DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 — TandemVu 6MP Panoramic + 4MP 42× DarkFighter 2.0 PTZ Speed Dome with 300 m IR (NEMA 4X Anti-Corrosion)
The Hikvision DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 is Hikvision's flagship TandemVu dual-sensor speed dome — a single chassis that combines a 6 MP ultra-wide panoramic bullet (190° HFOV, F1.0) with a 4 MP 42× motorised PTZ (6–252 mm, F1.3), both running on one IP address and one VMS licence. The panoramic channel holds the full situational view at all times while the PTZ channel zooms, pans and tilts to follow incidents — handing off automatically via Auto-Tracking 3.0 with linked tracking capture. DarkFighter 2.0 on the PTZ delivers 0.0003 lux colour; the panoramic delivers 0.0005 lux colour at F1.0. Long-range night surveillance is covered by a built-in 300 m IR illuminator on the PTZ plus 30 m white-light supplement on the panoramic. The -Y suffix on this Australian-stocked SKU denotes Hikvision's moderate anti-corrosion housing — NEMA 4X-rated for coastal Australian sites within roughly 2 km of the shoreline and for areas exposed to acid rain.
This is the camera Hikvision builds for the situations where a conventional PTZ "loses the room" the moment it zooms in — large transport hubs, mining haul roads, port aprons, council CBDs, perimeter walls, scenic-spot overwatch, large industrial campuses, public squares and stadium concourses. With the panoramic channel constantly recording the full 190° scene, an operator (or the AI engine) can investigate any detected event close-up via the PTZ without ever losing the wide view. The bullet channel keeps situational context — who else is in frame, where the target came from, where they're heading — while the 42× PTZ captures the face, the plate, the badge or the action close-up. Cyber-hardened with TPM 2.0 (FIPS 140-2 Level 2), IP67/IK10 rated and powered via PoE 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) or 36 VDC. Australian stock, 3-year Australian warranty.

See TandemVu in Action — Two Channels, One Camera
Hikvision's official TandemVu demonstration shows the panoramic-plus-PTZ workflow on-screen: the wide channel holds the full scene while the PTZ tracks and zooms in on detected targets simultaneously. The two views are streamed from a single IP address and recorded against a single VMS licence.
Why Choose a TandemVu PTZ over a Single-Sensor PTZ
A conventional PTZ has one fundamental compromise: the moment you zoom in, you lose the wide situational view. If something is happening at the other end of your site, no one is watching. TandemVu fixes this by adding a full-time 6 MP 190° panoramic channel next to the 42× PTZ — the bullet keeps recording the entire scene while the PTZ goes hunting. For high-value, high-coverage sites, this is the difference between an investigation that succeeds and one that comes up short.
6 MP Panoramic — Never Loses the Room
1/2.5" CMOS · 3680 × 1656 (6 MP) · 2.8 mm · F1.0 · 190° horizontal FOV · tilt-adjustable 12°-24°. The bullet records the full scene continuously — even while the PTZ is zoomed in on a specific target at 42×.
4 MP 42× PTZ — Long-Range Detail
1/1.8" CMOS · 2688 × 1520 (4 MP) · 6–252 mm motorised · 42× optical + 16× digital · F1.3 · DarkFighter 2.0. PTZ DORI Identify 296.6 m at full telephoto. Reads faces and plates at distances a single-sensor camera cannot reach.
Auto-Tracking 3.0 + Linked Tracking Capture
The bullet detects a human, vehicle or armed face anywhere in the 190° scene. The PTZ automatically slews to the target, locks on, and follows it across the site — capturing close-up evidence frames the whole time, while the bullet continues recording the wide view.
One IP, One Licence, One Cable
The two channels stream from a single IP address over a single Cat 6 cable. One VMS / NVR licence covers both — half the licence cost of running a separate bullet plus a separate PTZ at the same site.
300 m IR + 30 m White Light
Built-in IR illuminator on the PTZ reaches up to 300 m at full telephoto. The panoramic channel has its own 30 m white-light array for the close-up wide scene — also usable as audio-visual deterrent (flashing light + audible warning).
120 / 150 dB AWDR — Both Channels
Bullet at 120 dB, PTZ at 150 dB AWDR. Both channels handle backlit gateways, low-sun port aprons, mine-pit edges, mixed sodium / LED city lighting and stadium floodlights without burning out faces or losing detail in shadows.
Important Install Note — PoE 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) or 36 VDC
The DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 is a high-power dual-sensor PTZ. It runs on either PoE 802.3bt Type 4 (42.5-57 V, 1.76 A — full ~90 W from the switch / injector) or a dedicated 36 VDC supply at 2.5 A. Standard 802.3at PoE+ (25.5 W) and Hi-PoE 60 W will not reliably power this camera, especially with the heater, IR ring, white-light array and PTZ motors all under load.
-
PoE 802.3bt Type 4 injector or switch on the camera's network run — single Cat 6 cable carries data and 90 W of power. Simplest install for most sites.
-
36 VDC dedicated supply at the camera — used where you're running fibre to the camera or where you prefer to separate power and data drops.
The chassis weighs ≈ 10.5 kg — heavier than a single-sensor PTZ. Use a Hikvision pendant / wall / pole mount rated for the load, and check that the substrate and bracket together can support the camera plus wind loading over a 10-year service life. Contact our Australian team for the right 90 W PoE++ injector, 36 VDC supply or heavy-duty mount for your site.
Deep-Learning AI — Both Channels Working Together
The TandemVu architecture lets the two channels collaborate. The bullet sees the wide scene and detects events; the PTZ closes in on the target and captures evidence frames. The on-camera deep-learning engine handles classification, tracking and metadata generation locally — no central AI server required for the camera-level work.
Auto-Tracking 3.0 — Bullet Sees, PTZ Follows
The panoramic detects motion and classifies the target (human, vehicle, face). The PTZ automatically slews to the target's GPS-mapped location in the wide frame, locks on, and tracks the target through the scene at zoom. Linked tracking capture uploads best-frame close-ups during the entire follow.
Perimeter Protection — On Both Channels
Line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting detection — filtered by human / vehicle classification — run on the panoramic AND the PTZ independently. Catch perimeter breaches in the wide view and validate them with the PTZ close-up.
Multi-Target-Type Detection
Simultaneous detection of face (7 features), human body (14 features) and vehicle (8 features) — rich metadata indexed against your VMS for fast post-incident search.
Face Capture — 30 Simultaneous
The PTZ captures up to 30 faces simultaneously, grades face quality, and uploads the best frame plus background context. Useful at port gates, mining-camp entries, transit stations and large-venue access points.
Face Comparison — 150,000 Total
10 face libraries × 30,000 faces = 150,000 total with encrypted on-camera storage. Enterprise-scale watchlist comparison runs at the camera — even if the VMS is offline.
Object Arming — Person + Vehicle
Arm specific faces, human IDs or vehicles. When the camera detects an armed target in the scene, it triggers an alarm and switches to tracking-and-capture mode, uploading target location and context continuously.
About On-Camera ANPR (Checkpoint Scenario Only)
The DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 supports on-camera number-plate recognition via its deep-learning Road Traffic and Vehicle Detection engine — ≥98% LPR accuracy, 4 LPR region presets (including Asia-Pacific), a 10,000-record blocklist / allowlist, vehicle attribute capture (type, colour, brand, direction) and vehicle counting. Important caveat: Hikvision specifies LPR support only in a checkpoint scenario — meaning the camera is fixed on a defined approach lane where vehicles drive toward (or past at limited angle) the lens, at known speeds. Up to 120 km/h front-on capture, 80 km/h side capture. This is not the right tool for free-flow surveillance ANPR where the PTZ is also being used for general monitoring — for that workload, choose a dedicated DeepinView ANPR bullet (iDS-2CD7A46G2/P-IZHSY or iDS-2CD7A45G2/P-IZHSY). TandemVu's strength is simultaneous wide-scene + PTZ overwatch with auto-tracking — ANPR is a bonus, not the headline.
PTZ Kinematics — 360° Endless Pan, 300 Presets, 3D Positioning
360° Endless Pan · 240°/s Preset
360° continuous pan with preset speed up to 240°/s and configurable speed from 0.1°/s to 160°/s. Suited for site-wide patrols and rapid handoff between defined incident-response presets.
Tilt −20° to +90° · 200°/s Preset
PTZ tilt from −20° (below horizon, for tall-pole sites with ground beneath) to +90° (straight up) with preset speed to 200°/s. Panoramic channel has its own independent tilt adjustment (12°-24°) to set the wide-scene framing at install.
300 Presets · 8 Patrols · 4 Patterns
300 PTZ presets, 8 patrol routes (32 presets each) and 4 pattern scans with 10+ minutes of recorded movement each. Schedule the PTZ to walk an automated patrol while the bullet keeps recording the full scene.
3D Positioning · Click-to-Frame
Click anywhere on the panoramic live view to centre-frame and zoom the PTZ on that point in one action. The fastest way for an operator to investigate a wide-scene event at zoom.
Power-Off Memory · Preset Freezing
Power-off memory returns the camera to its previous orientation after a brown-out. Preset freezing holds the last good frame while the PTZ slews to the next preset — no swirly transition on the recording.
Built-in Gyroscope EIS
Gyroscope-driven electronic image stabilisation — critical on tall pole installs in coastal wind and on long-zoom shots where any mount vibration would otherwise blur the image and confuse the AI engine.

DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 (TandemVu) vs DS-2DF7A436IXG-EL(Y) (Single-Sensor PTZ)
The closest single-sensor sibling is Hikvision's DS-2DF7A436IXG-EL(Y) — a 4 MP 36× DarkFighter 2.0 IR PTZ that shares much of the same imaging chain at the PTZ end. The TandemVu adds a full-time 6 MP panoramic channel next to the PTZ for situational awareness that a single-sensor camera structurally cannot provide.

Recording NVRs — Plan for Two Channels per Camera
Because TandemVu cameras stream as two IP channels from one camera, plan your NVR channel count and storage to recognise that each TandemVu unit consumes two NVR licences and two streams' worth of bandwidth and disk. Any modern Hikvision NVR supporting ONVIF Profile S/G/T/M or Hikvision ISAPI is compatible. For multi-site rollouts with rich AI metadata, VPro AcuSeek and DeepinMind NVRs unlock natural-language search across the recording.

Eight-channel VPro AcuSeek AI NVR with 8 built-in PoE ports — sized for a single TandemVu unit plus a handful of perimeter cameras. View DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/VPro →
Important: the TandemVu PTZ does not draw power from these NVRs' built-in PoE ports — it needs a separate PoE 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) injector or a 36 VDC supply. Data goes over the Ethernet; power comes from the injector or DC supply. Browse the full Hikvision NVR range: Hikvision Network Video Recorders →.
Compatible Mounts & Accessories
Hikvision lists the following compatible accessories for the DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 chassis. All are sized for the ~10.5 kg, Ø 290 mm body. Choose the mounting style that fits the install — pendant for eave / gantry, wall for façade, pole for street-pole and vertical-column installs, junction box for clean cable termination.
Hikvision DS-2115ZJ-PSAC — Pendant Mount
Hikvision's pendant mount kit sized for the SF8C TandemVu chassis. Used where the camera hangs from a horizontal beam, eave or carport gantry — the most common heavy-PTZ install style.
Hikvision DS-4614ZJ-PAAC — Wall Mount
Heavy-duty wall mount rated for the TandemVu's mass and wind loading. Pairs with the DS-1684ZJ-P-Y junction box for clean cable termination behind the bracket.
Hikvision DS-4604ZJ-PAAC — Wall / Eave Variant
Alternative wall / eave bracket from Hikvision's accessory range — picks the right reach and load profile when the DS-4614ZJ-PAAC isn't the right geometry for the substrate.
Hikvision DS-1684ZJ-P-Y — Junction Box
Anti-corrosion junction box matched to the -Y variant chassis. Provides a sealed cable termination cavity behind the mount, keeping conduit fittings out of weather.
Pole Mounts & Corner Mounts
Hikvision pole and corner mount accessories are available for street-pole, light-pole, gate-column and corner-of-building installs. Talk to our Australian team for the right pairing — TandemVu's 10.5 kg load needs a heavier-rated bracket than a standard PTZ.
PoE 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) Injector / Switch
Required if you're not powering the camera from a separate 36 VDC supply. Make sure the injector or switch is genuinely Type 4 (90 W) — standard PoE+ and Hi-PoE 60 W will not reliably power this camera under full load. Contact our Australian team for the right injector.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is TandemVu and why is it different from a normal PTZ?
TandemVu is Hikvision's dual-sensor PTZ architecture: one chassis houses both a fixed wide-angle bullet (190° HFOV here) and a traditional zoom PTZ. The two sensors run as two independent IP channels from a single network drop. Result: the bullet keeps recording the wide scene at all times, even while the PTZ zooms in and tracks a target. A conventional PTZ loses the wide view the moment it zooms — TandemVu doesn't.
How many channels does this consume on my NVR?
Two channels per camera. Each TandemVu unit shows up as two streams (panoramic + PTZ) and consumes two NVR licences. Account for this when sizing the NVR — eight TandemVu cameras = 16 channels.
Does it really support ANPR / number-plate recognition?
Yes — but only in a checkpoint scenario. The camera must be fixed on a defined approach lane with vehicles facing the lens (or at limited side angle), at known speeds up to 120 km/h front or 80 km/h side. Accuracy is ≥98 %. This is not a free-flow ANPR camera. For free-flow ANPR on a busy road, choose a dedicated DeepinView ANPR bullet such as the iDS-2CD7A46G2/P-IZHSY.
What does the "-Y" suffix mean and which variant do you stock?
The -Y suffix indicates Hikvision's moderate anti-corrosion housing — NEMA 4X-rated, designed for coastal Australian sites within ~2 km of the shoreline and areas affected by acid rain. We stock the DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 (with -Y) as our Australian default.
What does the "/26" suffix in the model number mean?
The "/26" denotes the specific variant of this TandemVu SF8C series — Hikvision uses the suffix to distinguish the panoramic-lens and PTZ-zoom-range combination for this SKU. The shipping product is documented in Hikvision's official datasheet revision 2025-04-28 (linked below).
Why doesn't it run on standard PoE+ or Hi-PoE?
Two sensors, two image processors, a 90 W heater / IR / white-light / wiper load and PTZ motors push total demand to around 90 W. Standard PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at, 25.5 W) and Hi-PoE 60 W are not enough headroom. The camera requires PoE 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) or a dedicated 36 VDC supply at 2.5 A.
What's the difference between the panoramic and the PTZ channel for AI?
Both channels run the deep-learning AI stack independently — perimeter protection (line crossing, intrusion, region entry / exit), multi-target detection and target classification. The advantage of running AI on the panoramic channel is that you catch events anywhere in the 190° scene at all times; the PTZ then handles close-up follow-up via Auto-Tracking 3.0 with linked tracking capture.
How does Auto-Tracking 3.0 work across the two channels?
The panoramic detects a target and classifies it (human / vehicle / armed face). The PTZ automatically slews to the target's mapped location in the 190° frame, zooms in, and tracks the target as it moves through the scene. The bullet keeps recording the wide context for the entire follow — so you get both the situational view and the close-up evidence frames simultaneously.
How far away can the PTZ identify a target?
Per EN 62676-4 criteria at full telephoto: PTZ Detect 2,965.5 m · Observe 1,176.8 m · Recognise 593.1 m · Identify 296.6 m. The panoramic channel's DORI is much shorter (Identify 7.7 m) because that channel is intended for wide situational coverage, not long-range detail.
Is this NDAA Section 889 compliant?
No. Hikvision is subject to NDAA Section 889 restrictions in the United States. For NDAA-compliant TandemVu-style projects (typically US federally-funded), we stock alternative brands — please contact our team for a recommendation. For Australian commercial, council, port-authority, private and most state-government projects without an NDAA contractual requirement, this camera is freely usable.
Will the camera record locally if the NVR drops?
Yes. microSD up to 1 TB plus ANR (Auto Network Replenishment) — when the network link to the NVR drops, the camera continues writing locally and back-fills the NVR's recording automatically once the link returns. No frames lost.
What's the warranty and where is it serviced?
This camera ships with a 3-year Australian Hikvision warranty, serviced back-to-base through Hikvision Australia. CCTV Guru manages the entire RA process from our Sydney office and provides Australian-based pre-sales and technical support for the life of the product.
Do you ship Australia-wide and is stock genuine?
Yes — Australian stock from authorised Hikvision Australia channels (not parallel imports). We ship Australia-wide every business day with same-day dispatch on orders placed before 2 pm AEST to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra, Darwin and regional addresses.
