Do I need a hub?
Yes. Eve Motion is a Matter device that connects over Thread, so you need a compatible hub that provides both a Matter controller and a Thread Border Router — for example a HomePod, Apple TV 4K, Echo, Nest Hub or SmartThings hub.
Can I use Eve Motion outdoors?
Eve Motion is IPX3 splash-resistant, so it suits indoor rooms and sheltered outdoor spots like a covered porch or balcony. It is not fully weatherproof, so avoid direct rain or fully exposed locations.
How is it powered and how long do batteries last?
Eve Motion runs on 2× AAA replaceable batteries (included) with no wiring needed. Eve rates the batteries for around a year of typical use, so you can place the sensor anywhere.
