Auto-Tracking 3.0 + Linked Tracking Capture
The bullet detects a human, vehicle or armed face anywhere in the 190° scene. The PTZ automatically slews to the target, locks on, and follows it across the site — capturing close-up evidence frames the whole time, while the bullet continues recording the wide view.
One IP, One Licence, One Cable

The DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 is a high-power dual-sensor PTZ. It runs on either PoE 802.3bt Type 4 (42.5-57 V, 1.76 A — full ~90 W from the switch / injector) or a dedicated 36 VDC supply at 2.5 A. Standard 802.3at PoE+ (25.5 W) and Hi-PoE 60 W will not reliably power this camera, especially with the heater, IR ring, white-light array and PTZ motors all under load.
PoE 802.3bt Type 4 injector or switch on the camera's network run — single Cat 6 cable carries data and 90 W of power. Simplest install for most sites.
36 VDC dedicated supply at the camera — used where you're running fibre to the camera or where you prefer to separate power and data drops.

Deep-Learning AI — Both Channels Working Together
The TandemVu architecture lets the two channels collaborate. The bullet sees the wide scene and detects events; the PTZ closes in on the target and captures evidence frames. The on-camera deep-learning engine handles classification, tracking and metadata generation locally — no central AI server required for the camera-level work.

The panoramic detects motion and classifies the target (human, vehicle, face). The PTZ automatically slews to the target's GPS-mapped location in the wide frame, locks on, and tracks the target through the scene at zoom. Linked tracking capture uploads best-frame close-ups during the entire follow.

About On-Camera ANPR (Checkpoint Scenario Only)
The DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 supports on-camera number-plate recognition via its deep-learning Road Traffic and Vehicle Detection engine — ≥98% LPR accuracy, 4 LPR region presets (including Asia-Pacific), a 10,000-record blocklist / allowlist, vehicle attribute capture (type, colour, brand, direction) and vehicle counting. Important caveat: Hikvision specifies LPR support only in a checkpoint scenario — meaning the camera is fixed on a defined approach lane where vehicles drive toward (or past at limited angle) the lens, at known speeds. Up to 120 km/h front-on capture, 80 km/h side capture. This is not the right tool for free-flow surveillance ANPR where the PTZ is also being used for general monitoring — for that workload, choose a dedicated DeepinView ANPR bullet (iDS-2CD7A46G2/P-IZHSY or iDS-2CD7A45G2/P-IZHSY). TandemVu is Hikvision's dual-sensor PTZ architecture: one chassis houses both a fixed wide-angle bullet (190° HFOV here) and a traditional zoom PTZ. The two sensors run as two independent IP channels from a single network drop. Result: the bullet keeps recording the wide scene at all times, even while the PTZ zooms in and tracks a target. A conventional PTZ loses the wide view the moment it zooms — TandemVu doesn't.
How many channels does this consume on my NVR?
Two channels per camera. Each TandemVu unit shows up as two streams (panoramic + PTZ) and consumes two NVR licences. Account for this when sizing the NVR — eight TandemVu cameras = 16 channels.
Does it really support ANPR / number-plate recognition?
Yes — but only in a checkpoint scenario. The camera must be fixed on a defined approach lane with vehicles facing the lens (or at limited side angle), at known speeds up to 120 km/h front or 80 km/h side. Accuracy is ≥98 %. This is not a free-flow ANPR camera. For free-flow ANPR on a busy road, choose a dedicated DeepinView ANPR bullet such as the iDS-2CD7A46G2/P-IZHSY.
What does the "-Y" suffix mean and which variant do you stock?
The -Y suffix indicates Hikvision's moderate anti-corrosion housing — NEMA 4X-rated, designed for coastal Australian sites within ~2 km of the shoreline and areas affected by acid rain. We stock the DS-2SF8C442MXG1-ELWY/26 (with -Y) as our Australian default.
What does the "/26" suffix in the model number mean?
The "/26" denotes the specific variant of this TandemVu SF8C series — Hikvision uses the suffix to distinguish the panoramic-lens and PTZ-zoom-range combination for this SKU. The shipping product is documented in Hikvision's official datasheet revision 2025-04-28 (linked below).
Why doesn't it run on standard PoE+ or Hi-PoE?
Two sensors, two image processors, a 90 W heater / IR / white-light / wiper load and PTZ motors push total demand to around 90 W. Standard PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at, 25.5 W) and Hi-PoE 60 W are not enough headroom. The camera requires PoE 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) or a dedicated 36 VDC supply at 2.5 A.
What's the difference between the panoramic and the PTZ channel for AI?
Both channels run the deep-learning AI stack independently — perimeter protection (line crossing, intrusion, region entry / exit), multi-target detection and target classification. The advantage of running AI on the panoramic channel is that you catch events anywhere in the 190° scene at all times; the PTZ then handles close-up follow-up via Auto-Tracking 3.0 with linked tracking capture.
How does Auto-Tracking 3.0 work across the two channels?
The panoramic detects a target and classifies it (human / vehicle / armed face). The PTZ automatically slews to the target's mapped location in the 190° frame, zooms in, and tracks the target as it moves through the scene. The bullet keeps recording the wide context for the entire follow — so you get both the situational view and the close-up evidence frames simultaneously.
How far away can the PTZ identify a target?
Per EN 62676-4 criteria at full telephoto: PTZ Detect 2,965.5 m · Observe 1,176.8 m · Recognise 593.1 m · Identify 296.6 m. The panoramic channel's DORI is much shorter (Identify 7.7 m) because that channel is intended for wide situational coverage, not long-range detail.
Is this NDAA Section 889 compliant?
No. Hikvision is subject to NDAA Section 889 restrictions in the United States. For NDAA-compliant TandemVu-style projects (typically US federally-funded), we stock alternative brands — please contact our team for a recommendation. For Australian commercial, council, port-authority, private and most state-government projects without an NDAA contractual requirement, this camera is freely usable.
Will the camera record locally if the NVR drops?
Yes. microSD up to 1 TB plus ANR (Auto Network Replenishment) — when the network link to the NVR drops, the camera continues writing locally and back-fills the NVR's recording automatically once the link returns. No frames lost.
What's the warranty and where is it serviced?
