The D-Link DMS-105 adds 5 wired 2.5GbE ports for compatible computers, NAS devices, routers and other Ethernet equipment. It is a straightforward way to connect more multi-gigabit devices without managing a switch controller.

Where it makes a difference
Use it to connect a compatible NAS and workstation, expand a router’s wired connections or build a small multi-gigabit network. To benefit from 2.5GbE transfers, the devices at both ends and the complete connection path need to support the required speed.
Plan your port count before buying: a port used to connect back to your router is still one of the available 5 ports. This switch does not provide Wi-Fi or replace a router.
Power and cabling
Connect the included power adapter to mains power and use suitable Ethernet patch cables for your devices. Cables are separate. This is a data-only switch: use a suitable injector or a PoE-capable switch if you need to power cameras or wireless access points through Ethernet.

Frequently asked questions
Does this switch supply PoE power?
No. The Ethernet ports carry data only. A PoE camera or access point needs a separate suitable power source, such as an appropriate PoE injector or PoE switch.
Will all my devices run at 2.5Gbps?
Only links with compatible 2.5GbE devices and suitable cabling can negotiate that speed. A 1GbE device continues to work at its supported speed; the switch does not upgrade that device’s network adapter.
Does it make my internet connection faster?
It can remove a 1Gbps bottleneck between compatible local devices. Your internet speed still depends on your service plan, router, connected devices and the rest of the network.
Does it need a controller or software licence?
No. This is an unmanaged plug-and-play Ethernet switch. There is no switch configuration interface or controller requirement.
