Replacing an Older Bosch Solution Alarm Keypad: What to Check First
Check the panel model, keypad part number and installation requirements before replacing an older Bosch or EDM Solution codepad. Similar appearance does not confirm compatibility.
A similar-looking keypad is not enough to confirm a replacement. Before ordering a Bosch Solution codepad, identify the control panel and check the proposed keypad against that exact panel’s documentation.
Can a new keypad replace an old Solution 4+4 codepad?
Do not assume so. The IUI-SOL-ICON is documented for the Solution 2000/3000 range. That does not establish compatibility with an older Solution 4+4 panel. If your system is a legacy EDM or Bosch Solution model, have its exact control-panel model and revision checked before buying. A date or number printed on the old keypad’s circuit board identifies information about that keypad; it does not by itself confirm the control panel or a suitable replacement.
What information should you collect?
-
Control panel: the full model from existing paperwork, service records or a label accessible without opening the enclosure. Ask your alarm technician to identify internal board markings if needed.
-
Existing keypad: its model, a clear front photo and any part number already recorded by your installer.
-
Proposed replacement: the complete part number, including any suffix or revision.
-
System setup: how many keypads are installed, which one has failed and whether another still operates normally.
-
Monitoring: whether the alarm reports to a monitoring provider, so replacement work can be coordinated.
Do not share alarm PINs, installer codes or monitoring passwords in a product enquiry. Photos should omit personal details and security codes.
What is confirmed about IUI-SOL-ICON?
The Bosch IUI-SOL-ICON LCD Icon Codepad is listed for Solution 2000 and 3000 systems. Those systems support up to four keypads. This is a product to consider for a confirmed supported installation, not a verified replacement recommendation for every older Bosch alarm.
Is replacing a keypad just swapping the wires?
Even on a supported panel, setup matters. Bosch’s Solution 2000/3000 support guidance explains that additional codepads require addressing and panel configuration. It also identifies the keypad tamper mechanism as a possible source of trouble indications. A technician should check the relevant manual, configure the device and test normal operation and any monitoring after the work. Avoid experimenting with terminal connections or opening the powered alarm enclosure.
What if no compatible replacement can be confirmed?
Ask for a compatibility check before purchasing. The answer may be a supported replacement or a separately assessed panel upgrade; retaining existing detectors, wiring or other accessories must also be checked. Do not assume that upgrading the keypad upgrades the rest of the alarm.
Contact CCTV Guru with the panel model, keypad part number and photos. State whether you want to replace one failed keypad or discuss an upgrade. For a broader comparison, read our Bosch Solution 2000, 3000 and 6000 guide.
