Does the G6 Dome require a UniFi Protect subscription?
No. UniFi Protect runs locally on a compatible UniFi NVR or Dream Machine. There are no monthly fees or cloud subscriptions required for full functionality.
What NVR is required?
Any UniFi Protect-compatible NVR running current firmware, including the UNVR, UDM-SE (8 × PoE ports), UDM-Pro, UDM-Pro-Max, or UniFi Dream Wall (12 × PoE ports).
Is it suitable for outdoor use in Australia?
Yes. IP66 weatherproofing and a -20°C to 50°C operating range make it fully suited to Australian outdoor environments including coastal, high-humidity, and high-UV areas.
What does IK10 mean?
IK10 is the highest impact resistance rating under the IEC 62262 standard — it means the camera housing can withstand 20 joules of impact force, equivalent to a 5 kg mass dropped from 400 mm.
Does it support face and licence plate recognition?
Yes. The Multi-TOPS AI engine includes face recognition and licence plate recognition alongside people, vehicle, and animal detection — all processed on-device.
