Does the Tapo C202 work outdoors?
No. The C202 is designed for indoor use only and does not carry an IP weather-resistance rating. For outdoor surveillance, consider the Tapo C310 or C320WS.
Does it require a subscription to record footage?
No. Insert a microSD card (up to 128 GB) for free local recording. Tapo Care cloud storage is optional and available as a paid subscription for remote access to recorded clips.
What Wi-Fi frequency does the C202 support?
The C202 connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. It does not support 5 GHz bands. Ensure your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz SSID during setup.
Can I view the camera remotely when I'm not at home?
Yes. The Tapo app provides live remote viewing over mobile data or Wi-Fi from anywhere, as long as the camera has an active internet connection.
How do I enable Privacy Mode?
Privacy Mode can be toggled directly in the Tapo app. When activated, the camera lens physically rotates to a downward-facing position and stops recording, giving you full control over when the camera is active.
Is the Tapo C202 compatible with NVRs or ONVIF systems?
The C202 is a cloud-based consumer camera and does not natively support ONVIF or direct NVR integration. For ONVIF-compatible cameras, refer to our range of TP-Link VIGI network cameras.
