Description
Long-Range Wi-Fi 6 for Australian Outdoor Environments
The TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor is a professional-grade AX1800 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point built for demanding outdoor deployments. With a fully sealed IP67 weatherproof enclosure, high-power amplifier, and external high-gain antennas, it delivers reliable wireless coverage across car parks, school grounds, warehouse yards, hospitality venues, and large residential properties — powered over a single Cat6 cable via 802.3at PoE. Integrates natively into the TP-Link Omada SDN ecosystem for centralised cloud or on-premises management, seamless fast roaming, and wireless mesh backhaul where cabling isn’t possible.
Key Features
-
Wi-Fi 6 (AX1800) Dual-Band — Up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz — nearly 3× the throughput of Wi-Fi 5 with significantly better performance in high-device-count environments.
-
OFDMA & 4× MU-MIMO — Serves multiple devices simultaneously rather than sequentially, reducing latency and congestion in dense outdoor environments such as car parks, school ovals, and event spaces.
-
IP67 Weatherproof — Fully sealed against dust and water immersion. Rated for continuous outdoor use in all Australian conditions including coastal salt air, tropical rain, and extreme heat. Operating range −30°C to +70°C.
-
High-Power Amplifier & External Antennas — 2× 4 dBi antennas on 2.4 GHz and 2× 5 dBi antennas on 5 GHz extend coverage significantly beyond standard indoor APs. Expect 100–200m+ radius in open outdoor areas.
-
802.3at PoE Powered — Single Cat6 cable carries both data and power (max 12.5W). No separate power run or electrician required for most installations. Passive PoE adapter (48V/0.5A) included.
-
Omada Mesh — Wireless Backhaul — Connect EAP access points wirelessly where running Cat6 cable is impractical, without losing centralised management or roaming capability.
-
Seamless Fast Roaming (802.11r/k/v) — Clients roam between access points without dropping connections — critical for VoIP, video streams, and IoT devices moving across a site.
-
Omada SDN — Centralised Management — Manage all APs, switches, and gateways from a single dashboard via cloud or on-premises Omada Controller. Zero-touch provisioning and real-time monitoring included.
-
BSS Colouring — Reduces interference from neighbouring Wi-Fi networks in dense multi-AP deployments by tagging transmissions with a unique colour identifier.
-
Pole & Wall Mounting Included — Mounting kits for both pole and wall installation, waterproof antenna connectors, and waterproof cable entry kit included in the box.
-
Standalone or Controller Mode — Operates independently via web browser UI, or integrates into Omada SDN for enterprise-grade multi-site management.
Use Cases
-
Warehouses & Industrial Sites — Cover large open areas with a single AP over existing Cat6 infrastructure. Omada SDN manages multiple APs across the site from one dashboard.
-
Schools & Universities — OFDMA and MU-MIMO handle hundreds of simultaneous student devices without lag. Fast roaming keeps devices connected as students move between buildings and outdoor areas.
-
Hotels, Resorts & Caravan Parks — Extend reliable Wi-Fi to pool areas, outdoor dining, car parks, and cabins. Omada Mesh covers areas where cable runs aren’t feasible.
-
Retail Forecourts & Shopping Centres — Cover outdoor retail areas, drive-throughs, and loading docks. IP67 handles weather exposure; Omada SDN provides multi-site management.
-
Residential Properties & Acreage — Extend Wi-Fi to garages, sheds, pool areas, and outbuildings from a single PoE cable. Omada Mesh bridges to areas where cable can’t reach.
-
CCTV & Security Installations — Provide reliable wireless backhaul for IP cameras in areas where running Cat6 to each camera is impractical. Pairs with TP-Link Omada switches and gateways for a fully managed network.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the EAP610-Outdoor require an Omada Controller?
No. It operates in standalone mode managed via a web browser with no controller needed. For multi-AP deployments, the free Omada Software Controller (runs on a PC or NAS), Omada Hardware Controller (OC200/OC300), or Omada Cloud provides centralised management, fast roaming, and mesh configuration.
What PoE switch do I need?
Any 802.3at (PoE+) switch or injector is compatible. The AP draws a maximum of 12.5W, so a standard PoE+ port is sufficient. A passive PoE adapter (48V/0.5A) is included in the box if you don’t have a PoE switch available.
What outdoor range can I expect?
In open outdoor environments, expect a coverage radius of 100–200m+ depending on obstructions, client devices, and interference. For large sites such as school grounds, caravan parks, or warehouse yards, deploy multiple EAP610-Outdoor units managed via Omada SDN for seamless roaming coverage across the entire area.
Can I use Omada Mesh without running cable to every AP?
Yes. Omada Mesh allows EAP access points to connect wirelessly to each other, extending coverage without a wired backhaul run. Note that wireless mesh does consume some bandwidth — wired connections are always preferred where cabling is practical.
Is it compatible with other Omada devices?
Yes. The EAP610-Outdoor integrates with all Omada SDN devices including Omada switches, gateways, and other EAP access points for a fully unified managed network. It can also be mixed with older Wi-Fi 5 EAP models in the same Omada deployment.
Is it suitable for Australian coastal and tropical environments?
Yes. The IP67 rating means it is fully sealed against dust ingress and water immersion. With an operating temperature range of −30°C to +70°C and waterproof antenna connectors and cable entry kit included, it is rated for coastal salt air, tropical rainfall, and extreme heat conditions common across Australia.
Can I use this to support IP cameras wirelessly?
Yes. The EAP610-Outdoor is well-suited as a wireless backhaul node for IP cameras in areas where running Cat6 to each camera is impractical. Pair with a VIGI NVR and TP-Link Omada switches for a fully managed wired and wireless security network.
