Is this lock fail-safe or fail-secure?
The EM4500 is a fail-safe (fail-open) device — it releases when power is removed. This is the standard and required behaviour for fire egress compliance on designated exit paths. For fail-secure applications, a different locking mechanism is required.
Installer Note: For inward-opening gates, pair the EM4500 with the LOX AMZB3 L & Z Bracket to achieve correct armature plate alignment. Always use a weatherproof power supply enclosure for fully exposed outdoor installations.
