The Hikvision DS-9632NI-M16 is the enterprise-storage choice for 32-channel deployments — the same 3U chassis and 16 SATA bays (256 TB max) as the flagship 64-channel M16, but tuned for sites that need extreme footage retention rather than maximum camera count. This is a non-PoE enterprise chassis — designed for sites that already run a managed PoE switch backbone (or non-PoE camera infrastructure like fibre, wireless backhaul or third-party power injectors). Pair the M16 with your existing switch infrastructure and let it handle recording, AI processing, multi-monitor display, RAID redundancy and N+M hot-spare protection for all 32 channels.

The 32-channel NVR for sites that take retention seriously
Most 32-channel NVRs ship with 4 or 8 SATA bays — enough for 30–60 days of 4K H.265+ footage. That's fine for compliance minimums, but it's barely two months. The DS-9632NI-M16 doubles or quadruples that: 16 SATA bays for up to 256 TB total — enough for 6 months to a full year of continuous 4K retention at typical 32-channel bitrates. For hospitals, casinos, government and compliance-driven facilities, that retention window is the difference between meeting an investigation window and missing it.

What's the difference between the M16 and the 9632NI-M8?
The M16 has double the SATA bays (16 vs 8) and double the maximum storage (256 TB vs 128 TB), in a slightly taller 3U chassis vs the M8's 2U. Same 32 channels, same 320 Mbps bandwidth. Choose the M16 if you need extreme retention — 6–12 months instead of 2–3.
Why choose this over the DS-9664NI-M16 (64-channel)?
Same chassis, same 256 TB storage, but tuned for 32 channels at slightly lower price. If your site has 32 cameras (not 64) and needs extreme retention, the 9632NI-M16 gives you the same storage capacity with more bandwidth headroom per camera.
Is there a redundant-power version available?
Yes — the DS-9632NI-M16/R has dual hot-swappable PSUs for sites where power redundancy is mandatory (data centres, critical infrastructure, government). Contact our Australian team if you need the /R variant.
Does it come with hard drives?
The recorder ships as a chassis only. CCTV Guru offers pre-fitted enterprise surveillance drives from 8 TB up to 16 TB per bay — choose your RAID-ready configuration at checkout. For 256 TB max, fit 16 × 16 TB drives in RAID 6 for dual-drive failure protection.
Does the M16 have built-in PoE?
No — this is a non-PoE enterprise chassis. It's designed for sites that already run a managed PoE switch backbone. The M Series PoE variants (DS-7732NI-M4/24P, DS-7732NI-M4/16P) max out at 32 channels but with much less storage.
