Lightfinder 2.0 holds colour down to 0.06 lux and Forensic WDR delivers up to 120 dB of dynamic range, which often removes the need for supplementary IR lighting on lit sites. Autofocus and auto-alignment set the sensors and the paired PTZ automatically, so there is no manual fine-tuning on the pole.

Is the AXIS Q6020-E a PTZ camera?No. It is a fixed multidirectional panoramic camera with four 5 MP sensors covering 360° horizontally. It has no motorised pan/tilt and no optical zoom. The pan, tilt and rotation figures in the specification are installation adjustments made once at mounting. Axis designed it to run alongside an AXIS Q60-Series PTZ camera, which provides the zoom while the Q6020-E holds the full overview.
What resolution does it record?Each of the four sensors delivers up to 2592x1944 (5 MP) at up to 30 fps, for 4 x 5 MP in total. The default resolution is 2592x1944 per channel and streams can be scaled down to 320x240. It is not a single 4K sensor camera.
Does it have built-in infrared illumination?No, the Q6020-E has no built-in IR LEDs and no OptimizedIR. Four 1/2” sensors with F2.0 optics and Lightfinder 2.0 hold colour down to 0.06 lux, which often removes the need for IR on lit sites. For genuinely dark areas, add external illuminators such as the AXIS T90D series.
What power supply does it need?On its own it requires PoE IEEE 802.3bt dual signature Class 4 (60 W), drawing typically 14.3 W with the heater off and up to 51 W. A power-optimised low power profile will run on 802.3bt single signature Class 4 (30 W). Paired with an AXIS Q6086-E or Q6088-E PTZ, the combination needs 802.3bt dual signature Class 5 (90 W).
What analytics are included?AXIS Object Analytics, AXIS Scene Metadata, AXIS Video Motion Detection and an active tampering alarm are preinstalled and run on all four channels via the dual ARTPEC-8 chips and their deep learning processing unit. Object Analytics classifies humans and vehicle types and supports up to 10 simultaneous scenarios including line crossing, object in area, occupancy and tailgating detection.
How does Autopilot work with a PTZ camera?Autopilot monitors a defined area of interest and can trigger an alarm or start recording when a person, vehicle or other object moves within it. Combined with a paired AXIS Q60 PTZ camera, this lets the panoramic view cue the PTZ onto activity automatically, and autofocus with auto-alignment means the sensors and PTZ set themselves up without manual fine-tuning.
How tough is it and what temperatures will it handle?The housing is IP66, NEMA 4X and IK10 rated with a polycarbonate dome and aluminium casing. Operating range is -50 °C to 55 °C on 60 W dual signature PoE, with a start-up temperature of -40 °C and 10–100% condensing humidity tolerance. It is comfortably rated for any Australian climate.
Can it record locally without an NVR?Yes. There is a card slot supporting microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC with AES-XTS-Plain64 256-bit card encryption, and the camera can also record to network-attached storage. For continuous multi-channel recording a proper VMS or NVR is still recommended.
Can I change the field of view for longer-range detail?Yes. The supplied 3.7 mm F2.0 M14 lenses give 108.4° per sensor and 360° in total. Optional M14 lenses narrow each channel for longer range: 7.6 mm gives 58.5°, 14.1 mm gives 31°, 21.4 mm gives 19.9° and 30.8 mm gives 13.8°, extending detect distance from 46 m up to roughly 429 m.
