A dedicated licence-plate scene profile sets shutter and exposure for retro-reflective plates automatically, while Axis Zipstream cuts bandwidth and storage by around 50% without losing the frames that matter.
Licence Included, No Server Needed
AXIS License Plate Verifier is preinstalled with its licence included. Configuration is done in the camera web interface — define the area of interest, build allow/block lists, and store up to 1,000 events on-camera or 100,000 on an AXIS Surveillance Card.
Barrier & Access Control Ready
Barrier mode can open to all vehicles, only allowlisted plates, or all except blocklisted plates, with up to 10,000 plates per list. It integrates directly with AXIS A1001/A1601 door controllers, A91 relay modules and 2N IP devices.

Do I need to buy a separate licence plate recognition licence?No. AXIS License Plate Verifier comes preinstalled on this kit with the licence included, and runs entirely on the camera. There is no server, subscription or per-camera add-on to purchase.
How far away can it read a numberplate?From 7 to 20 metres (20 to 65 feet) using the 29 mm telephoto end of the lens. Mounting inside that window is essential — too close or too far and the plate will not have enough pixel width to be read reliably.
What vehicle speed does it handle?Up to 105 km/h (65 mph), with detection in under one second. It is purpose-tuned for slow to moderate free-flow traffic such as access roads, car park entries, gated estates and campuses.
What is the difference between the P1465-LE and the P1465-LE-3?The -3 variant ships with the 10.9–29 mm telephoto lens and the License Plate Verifier application preinstalled. The standard P1465-LE uses a wider lens and is aimed at general surveillance rather than plate capture.
Can it open a boom gate or barrier automatically?Yes. In access control mode it checks each detected plate against an allowlist or blocklist of up to 10,000 entries and can trigger its onboard relay output, or integrate directly with AXIS A1001/A1601 door controllers, A91 relay modules and 2N IP devices.
