Privacy policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
CCTV Guru Pty Ltd (“CCTV Guru”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates the CCTV Guru website, online store and mobile shopping app, together with related customer support and shopping services (the “Services”).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information when you browse our products, use our app, create or access an account, place an order, submit a review or contact us.
Our store uses Shopify to provide shopping, account and checkout services. Other service providers help us process payments, deliver orders and support customers.
Personal information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the Services. It may include:
- Contact information: your name, email address, phone number, billing address and delivery address.
- Account information: your customer identifier, account profile, sign-in information, preferences and, where applicable, company or trade-account details.
- Shopping and transaction information: products you save, add to your cart or purchase; selected product options; order history; payment status; invoices; delivery details; and returns, refunds or warranty requests.
- Reviews and communications: reviews, ratings and other content you submit, together with information you provide when contacting us.
- Technical and usage information: IP address, browser and device details, session information, and information about interactions with our website or services.
- Privacy and marketing preferences: your consent choices and communication preferences.
Payments are processed through Shopify checkout and the payment provider you select. Those providers process payment credentials required to complete the transaction. The CCTV Guru mobile app does not store your full payment-card number or card security code. We receive transaction information needed to manage your order, such as payment status, payment method and transaction references.
How we collect information
We collect information:
- Directly from you when you use an account, place an order, submit a review, contact us or otherwise provide information.
- Through your use of the Services, including shopping activity and technical information generated when connecting to our systems.
- From service providers that support accounts, payments, order fulfilment, reviews and customer communications.
- From third-party services you choose to use, where they provide information necessary to complete your request.
You can browse many parts of the Services without signing in. If you do not provide information needed for a particular service, we may be unable to process an order, arrange delivery or provide that service.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide and manage customer accounts and authenticate sign-ins.
- Display products, maintain carts and saved-product lists, and support kit-building features.
- Process payments, fulfil orders, arrange delivery and provide invoices.
- Display your order history and manage returns, refunds and warranty requests.
- Apply eligible company or trade-account pricing.
- Handle enquiries, provide support and communicate about your account or orders.
- Facilitate customer reviews.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and improve the Services.
- Detect fraud, protect accounts and secure our systems.
- Send marketing communications in accordance with your preferences and applicable law.
- Meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our terms.
CCTV Guru mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android
This section applies to CCTV Guru version 6.0.1 and subsequent compatible updates, including the Android app with package name co.tapcart.app.id_oJYkNfVkcn. CCTV Guru Pty Ltd is the developer and operator.
Accounts and orders. Shopify provides customer sign-in, account details, order history and checkout. Signing in is optional for browsing, planning tools, saved products and notification preferences.
Saved products, tools and site plans. Saved products, calculator settings and site-planning projects may be stored on your device. Plan images you choose and camera positions are used to create your layout. Sharing or exporting a plan sends it only through the destination you choose. Product searches and matching requests use our online catalogue services. Removing the app can remove locally stored projects; removing the app does not delete your Shopify account or order records.
AI search and follow-up questions. Search terms, questions and recent follow-up context are sent to CCTV Guru's hosted search service to retrieve products and prepare answers. Where AI generation is used, question context and relevant catalogue information are processed by OpenAI through our service. Render hosts the search service. These providers process request information to operate their services. Please do not put passwords, payment-card details or other unnecessary sensitive information into search questions.
Optional push notifications. Offers and promotions, and news and new-product updates, have separate choices under Account > Notifications. When enabled with device permission, the app sends a notification token, a randomly generated installation identifier, platform and your choices to our hosted notification service. A device-specific secret helps protect changes to those settings. Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging support message delivery. Firebase and notification services may process installation or device identifiers and technical delivery information. No customer account is required. These identifiers let us deliver relevant messages to your device; they are not your camera feeds or footage.
Your notification choices. You can turn either category off in Account > Notifications and disable alerts in your phone's settings. The app synchronises your choices with our server when connected. Turning categories off prevents future promotional sends for those categories after the settings synchronise; it does not delete order records or other information we must retain. Contact us to request deletion of notification registration information.
Checkout and payment. Purchases use Shopify checkout. The app passes choices declining optional analytics, preference, marketing and sale-of-data processing to Shopify checkout and opens checkout in an isolated session. Information necessary for payment, order processing, security and fraud prevention is still processed.
Advertising and device permissions. The iPhone app may display Apple's tracking-permission prompt. The current app does not read the IDFA advertising identifier in its own code or include a native advertising SDK; Android's advertising-ID permission is blocked. Notification permission and access to a plan image you choose are used for the features described above. Optional permissions can be declined without preventing ordinary browsing and shopping.
Quotes and external services. Quote requests prepare an email or WhatsApp message for you to review and send. Details you include are processed by that chosen service and by CCTV Guru when received. Some forms, checkout, reviews and external links may open hosted pages or your device's browser; the privacy policy and choices of that service apply. The app does not access or monitor your installed security cameras or their video footage.
App settings do not automatically change privacy preferences you previously selected in a separate browser or third-party account.
Website cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website and service providers may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions, operate checkout, remember choices, protect against fraud, understand website use and support advertising measurement where enabled and permitted.
Website settings can differ from the mobile app’s checkout settings. Where privacy controls are provided, you can use them to manage optional processing. You can also manage cookies through your browser, although blocking essential cookies may affect account or checkout functionality.
As of the date of this policy:
- We share eligible website activity and customer contact information with Meta through our Facebook & Instagram Shopify integration using Meta Pixel, advanced matching and Conversions API to measure purchases and personalise advertising, subject to applicable privacy choices and required consent.
- Our TikTok Shopify integration has been uninstalled.
- We use Google Customer Match to share eligible customer contact details with Google through Shopify, match customers to Google accounts, and personalise advertising, subject to applicable privacy choices and required consent. Google website analytics and conversion-measurement services may also operate according to their configuration and applicable privacy choices.
These changes do not automatically delete information previously received by those providers. You may exercise applicable rights directly with the relevant provider or contact us for assistance.
Marketing communications
Where you subscribe or otherwise permit us to do so under applicable law, we may send you news, product information and promotional offers.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the message or contact us to update your preferences. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential communications such as order confirmations, delivery updates, security notices or responses to your enquiries.
When we disclose information
We disclose personal information where needed to provide the Services, including to:
- Shopify, for store hosting, customer accounts, checkout and related commerce services.
- Payment providers, to process payments, refunds and payment-related security checks.
- Delivery and fulfilment providers, to prepare and deliver orders.
- Okendo, to support customer reviews and related review services.
- Technology and support providers, for hosting, communications, system maintenance, security and customer support.
- Analytics and marketing providers, where those services are enabled and subject to applicable privacy choices and law.
- Professional advisers, regulators or authorities, where required or permitted by law.
We may also disclose information when you direct us to do so, or in connection with a business sale, restructuring or similar transaction, subject to applicable safeguards.
Reviews and any display name or content you choose to publish may be visible to other customers. Please avoid including private information in public reviews.
Shopify and other third-party services
Shopify processes information to operate our store and may also process information for its own services, such as Shop and Shop Pay, when you use them. Its independent processing is explained in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy. You can manage applicable Shopify privacy rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
If you choose to contact us through WhatsApp, use a third-party payment service or follow an external link, that provider’s privacy policy also applies to information it processes. We do not control independently operated third-party services.
Storage, security and retention
Personal information may be held in our business systems and in systems operated by Shopify and other service providers.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. No internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including providing your account and orders, handling warranties or disputes, preventing fraud and meeting legal, tax and accounting requirements.
Deleting an account or requesting deletion does not necessarily require immediate deletion of records we must retain for those purposes.
Overseas processing
Our service providers may process or store information outside Australia. Shopify’s international operations include entities or processing in Singapore, Canada and the United States. Other processing locations depend on the providers and services involved. Information may be subject to laws in those countries. Further information is available in Shopify’s Privacy Policy.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we take steps to meet those requirements. Contact us if you would like further information about overseas recipients relevant to your information.
Access, correction and deletion
You can contact us to request access to personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, or request deletion of your account or personal information.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to obtain a portable copy of information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or opt out of particular advertising-related uses.
Some account details can be updated through the Services. For other requests, email team@cctvguru.com.au.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful reason why we cannot fulfil a request in full.
Removing the app from your device does not itself delete your customer account or order records.
Children
Our Services are intended for a general shopping audience and are not directed at children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us inappropriately, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Privacy complaints
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, contact us using the details below. Please describe the issue and provide enough information for us to investigate.
We will review your complaint, may contact you for further information, and provide a response explaining the outcome and any proposed action.
If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may contact the relevant privacy regulator. In Australia, this is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our Services, information-handling practices or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy at this location and update the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
