What’s New in Hikvision? ColorVu 3.0, Smart Hybrid Light and AcuSeek Explained

  • 2 min reading time

Understand ColorVu 3.0, Smart Hybrid Light, AcuSense and AcuSeek, with practical buying and upgrade advice.

Looking for what’s new in Hikvision cameras and recorders? Three useful areas to compare are ColorVu 3.0 imaging, Smart Hybrid Light and AcuSeek video search. They solve different problems: seeing useful detail, choosing how cameras illuminate a scene and finding recorded footage. Features depend on the exact camera, recorder and firmware combination.

ColorVu 3.0: a newer imaging generation

Hikvision’s ColorVu 3.0 range adds improvements in imaging, intelligence and audio on supported models. For buyers, the useful question is how a particular model performs at your entrance, driveway or shop after dark—not simply whether it carries a newer label. Compare its sensor, lens, illumination options and supported analytics.

Browse Hikvision ColorVu 3.0 cameras. Colour night vision still needs light; in a completely dark scene, supplemental lighting may be required. Do not assume every model produces colour images in darkness without visible light.

Smart Hybrid Light: choose how night lighting works

Supported Smart Hybrid Light cameras offer infrared, white-light and smart lighting modes. Infrared normally produces black-and-white night footage. White light enables colour imaging. In smart mode, the camera can use infrared while the scene is quiet, switch on white light when a qualifying person or vehicle event is detected, then return to infrared.

This can suit a driveway or side entrance where you want colour event footage without keeping the camera’s white light on continuously. Confirm the available modes and event settings for the model you choose.

AcuSense and AcuSeek do different jobs

AcuSense uses person and vehicle classification to help reduce irrelevant alerts. Some newer models offer upgraded algorithms and additional search functions; support is model-dependent.

AcuSeek focuses on finding footage. Compatible Hikvision AI recorders support text-based video search, helping you look for an object or event using a description rather than reviewing every recording manually. It is not a feature that every existing Hikvision NVR gains automatically.

Browse Hikvision AcuSeek systems or AcuSeek NVR recorders. Ask CCTV Guru to confirm camera compatibility, firmware requirements, processing limits and supported search functions before upgrading.

Do newer cameras include two-way audio and active deterrence?

Some Hikvision cameras combine a microphone, speaker and strobe or audible warning features. Others offer listening audio only or different combinations. A ColorVu or Smart Hybrid Light label alone does not confirm two-way talk, a siren or a strobe. Check the full model number and product specifications.

Which upgrade should I choose?

  • Better night-time detail: compare suitable ColorVu models and the lighting at your property.
  • Less continuous white lighting: consider a compatible Smart Hybrid Light camera.
  • Fewer irrelevant alerts: compare supported person and vehicle detection.
  • Faster footage review: ask about a compatible AcuSeek recorder and camera combination.
  • Talk and warning features: choose models explicitly listing the audio and deterrence functions you need.

For a new system, use the Hikvision CCTV System Builder. For an existing installation, send your current NVR model, camera models, camera count, preferred recording days and budget through Get a Quote. CCTV Guru can check suitable options before you buy.
