Dahua Intercom Ringtone Settings: Indoor Monitor or Door Station?
Find the right ringtone setting for your Dahua indoor monitor, understand VTO versus VTH calls, and check model-specific limits before changing the outdoor sound.
Before changing a Dahua intercom ringtone, identify where you hear the sound: the indoor screen, the outdoor door station or your phone. Changing one device’s incoming-call settings may leave the sound you actually wanted to change untouched.
What do VTH and VTO mean?
In Dahua’s digital-intercom documentation, VTH refers to the indoor monitor and VTO to the outdoor door station. A setting named VTO Ring on an indoor monitor concerns a call arriving from the door station. It is not proof that you are changing the sound played outside for a visitor.
Changing the indoor monitor’s incoming-call sound
Dahua’s VTH 4.8.1 manual, section 3.6.1, documents these controls. Use this example only when the manual and interface match your monitor:
- On the indoor monitor, open Setting and its call-settings controls.
- For a call from the outdoor station, open VTO Incoming Call Config.
- Select the available ringtone and adjust its volume, then test by pressing the outdoor call button.
VTH Incoming Call Config is the separate setting for calls from another indoor monitor. On the firmware covered by that manual, extension monitors synchronise their VTO/VTH ring settings from the main monitor; change the main monitor’s settings where required.
What if the sound outside does not change?
Stop and check the outdoor station’s exact model and firmware. Do not assume that the indoor monitor’s ringtone list controls the visitor-side sound, or that another Dahua model’s screenshots apply to your equipment. We need the matching door-station instructions before confirming whether its particular tone can be changed.
Can I use my own audio file?
The VTH manual allows limited custom audio on selected SD-card models. Confirm your monitor’s supported format, file-size limit and card requirements before preparing a file. This does not establish custom-tone support for the outdoor station.
Send the right details for a model-specific answer
If your menus differ, send CCTV Guru the indoor and outdoor model numbers, firmware versions and a photo of the relevant settings screen. Tell us which device makes the unwanted sound and whether it happens before or after a call is answered. If the problem is only on your phone, include the app name/version and whether you use iPhone or Android. Please leave passwords and personal footage out of screenshots.
Ask CCTV Guru to check your intercom. You can also browse our Dahua indoor monitors and Dahua intercom range; a replacement should be checked against your existing system before purchase.
