Is this kit really full colour at night?
Yes. Smart Dual Light runs IR by default, then switches to a 30 m warm-white LED the moment AI detects a person or vehicle — recording full-colour footage of the event before returning to IR.
Can I turn off the white light at night?
Yes. Smart Dual Light has three modes — Smart Dual (IR by default, warm light only on AI detection), full-colour (warm light always on) and IR-only. If you'd rather avoid any visible spotlight, set IR mode and the cameras keep recording clear black-and-white footage at night with no white light at all.
What's the difference between the two NVR options?
The NVR4216 is the standard 16CH AI recorder. The NVR5216 adds AcuPick attribute search and higher bandwidth. AcuPick only runs on the 5-Series, so choose the 5216 if fast footage search matters to you.
Does a hard drive come included?
No — the NVR has two SATA bays but ships without storage. We recommend a surveillance-grade Seagate SkyHawk or WD Purple HDD, available as an add-on above.
How are the cameras powered?
Each camera runs on a single Cat6 cable to one of the NVR's 16 built-in PoE ports — no separate power supplies or powerpoints at the camera.
Can I view it on my phone?
Yes. Remote live view, playback and AI alerts are free through the Dahua DMSS app on iOS and Android, plus Smart PSS Lite on desktop.
