What You’ll Need

  • Your HiLook NVR physically accessible
  • A monitor and mouse connected to the NVR
  • A smartphone (to scan the QR code)
  • Internet access
  • Valid email address (to receive the reset code)

Step-by-Step: Reset HiLook NVR Password

1. At the Login Screen, Click “Forgot Password”

Once you’re on the login screen of the NVR, click the “Forgot Password” option.

2. Choose “Verify by Hik-Connect”

Select the “Verify by Hik-Connect” or “QR Code” method (depending on your firmware).

This allows Hikvision’s cloud system to verify the device and initiate password reset.

3. Scan the QR Code Using HiLookVision App

  • Open the HiLookVision or Hik-Connect mobile app on your phone.
  • Tap “Reset Device Password” in the app.
  • Use your phone to scan the QR code on your NVR screen.

4. Receive the Verification Code

After scanning, Hikvision will send a verification code to your registered email address.

⚠️ Make sure the email is the same one used when linking the NVR to your app/account.

5. Enter the Code & Reset Password

Once you receive the email:

  • Enter the 6-digit verification code on the NVR.
  • Set a new password when prompted.

✅ You’re now back in!

Pro Tips

  • Always write down or securely store your new password.
  • Update your password recovery email in HiLookVision to avoid lockouts.
  • If QR code reset doesn’t work, you may need to contact your CCTV supplier for an XML reset file.

Alternative: Reset via SADP Tool (If QR Doesn’t Work)

If the QR code method fails, use the SADP Tool on a Windows PC:

  1. Download and install the Hikvision SADP Tool
  2. Connect the NVR and PC to the same network.
  3. Open SADP and select the NVR.
  4. Click “Forgot Password”, then Export XML File.
  5. Send the XML file to your installer or distributor for password reset assistance.

Final Thoughts

Resetting a HiLook NVR password is straightforward when you follow the correct method using Hikvision’s cloud service or tools. With remote verification, you can reset your device in minutes and regain control of your CCTV system.
