The Dahua DH-SD1A404DB-GNY is a compact 4 MP WizSense Mini PTZ network camera that brings true pan-tilt-zoom coverage to sites that previously made do with fixed-lens domes. A 1/2.8" Starlight progressive-scan CMOS sensor delivers crisp 2560 × 1440 footage at 25/30 fps, paired with a motorised 2.8–12 mm vari-focal lens offering 4× optical zoom and a flexible 105° wide to 31° tele field of view. Smart IR reaches up to 20 m for total-darkness scenes, while 120 dB true WDR balances headlight glare and shaded corners. The IP66 / IK08 housing is built for Australian conditions — coastal salt spray, inland heat and tropical humidity included — and the camera draws under 12 W over a single 802.3af PoE cable. PTZ smarts include 300 presets, 8 tours, auto-tracking, SMD 4.0 human/vehicle filtering and IVS tripwire/intrusion. ONVIF Profile S/G/T, H.265+, two-way audio, alarm I/O and a 256 GB microSD slot round out the spec. Built for Australian retail forecourts, council carparks, regional petrol stations, warehouse yards and body-corporate buildings, every unit ships with a 3-Year AU Warranty backed by CCTV Guru.
Compact PTZ Form Factor
Mini speed-dome footprint slips under eaves, awnings and low-soffit installs where a full-size PTZ won't fit — ideal for shopfronts, ATM bays and tight carpark corners.
4× Optical Zoom 2.8–12 mm
Motorised vari-focal lens pulls in number plates, faces and signage detail without the pixel-mush of digital zoom — 105° wide at 2.8 mm, 31° tele at 12 mm.
Starlight Low-Light Performance
1/2.8" Starlight CMOS keeps colour usable deep into dusk; smart IR fills the rest out to 20 m without bleaching nearby subjects.
IP66 / IK08 Rugged Build
Sealed metal-and-polycarbonate housing shrugs off rain, dust and impacts — rated for −30°C to +60°C ambient, suiting both alpine NSW and tropical FNQ sites.
802.3af PoE Single-Cable Install
Standard 802.3af PoE budget (~12 W) means it runs off any mainstream PoE switch or NVR PoE port — no PoE+ injectors or 24 V DC supplies required.
SMD 4.0 False-Alarm Filter
SMD 4.0 only triggers on humans and vehicles, slashing the wind-and-shadow alarms that plague basic motion detection on outdoor PTZs.
The SD1A404DB-GNY draws around 12 W and runs on standard 802.3af PoE — any modern Dahua NVR PoE port, UniFi/TP-Link switch or stand-alone injector will power it. Keep Cat6 runs within the 100 m Ethernet limit; for longer hauls use a PoE extender or fibre media converter. Pendant and wall-bracket adapters are available for soffit, parapet or pole installs — specify the bracket at order time. For coastal AU installs (within ~5 km of saltwater), pair the camera with a rated surge protector on the Ethernet line and earth the bracket to the building's ground bus to maintain the 3-Year AU Warranty under storm conditions.
Auto-Tracking
When a tripwire or intrusion event triggers, the PTZ automatically pans, tilts and zooms to follow the target — then returns to its home preset once the subject leaves frame.
SMD 4.0 (Smart Motion Detection)
On-camera AI classifies humans vs vehicles before raising an event, eliminating the rubbish-bin, foliage and rain triggers that swamp basic VMD.
IVS Tripwire & Intrusion
Draw virtual lines or zones over the scene — the camera reports crossings or loitering with bounding boxes overlaid in DMSS and on the NVR timeline.
300 Presets & 8 Tours
Program up to 300 named preset positions and chain them into 8 patrol tours — ideal for cycling between a forecourt entry, pump bay, ATM and exit.
Privacy Masking
Up to 24 configurable privacy zones blank out neighbouring windows, public footpaths or staff-only areas to meet Australian Privacy Principle obligations.
ONVIF Integration
ONVIF Profile S/G/T compliance lets the camera record into Hikvision, UniFi Protect, Milestone, Blue Iris and other third-party VMS with PTZ control intact.

Is this camera NDAA compliant?
No. Dahua is not on the NDAA-approved manufacturer list. If your site has NDAA §889 procurement requirements, please consider an alternative brand.
What's the difference between the 4× optical zoom and digital zoom?
Optical zoom physically moves lens elements (2.8–12 mm) so every pixel of the 4 MP sensor is used at any focal length — detail stays sharp. Digital zoom just crops and upscales the existing image, so the picture softens. Always use the 4× optical first and reserve digital zoom for emergencies.
What PoE budget does it need?
Around 12 W — well within the 15.4 W of standard 802.3af. Any Dahua NVR PoE port, UniFi/TP-Link/Cisco switch or 802.3af injector will run it. PoE+ (802.3at) is not required.
How does auto-tracking behave?
When an IVS tripwire or intrusion event fires, the camera pans/tilts/zooms to keep the subject in frame. Once the subject leaves the scene or the tracking timeout expires, the PTZ automatically returns to its home preset and resumes any active tour.
Can it record to a microSD card?
Yes — the camera takes a single microSD up to 256 GB for edge recording. Use a high-endurance surveillance-rated card (e.g. Dahua S100, WD Purple, Samsung PRO Endurance) for 24/7 reliability.
Can it run stand-alone without an NVR?
Yes. With a microSD card fitted and DMSS configured for P2P, you can view live, get push alerts and review event clips entirely from the app. For 24/7 continuous recording across multiple cameras, an NVR is strongly recommended.
Will it work with non-Dahua NVRs?
Yes — ONVIF Profile S/G/T compliance covers video streaming, PTZ control and edge storage playback in Hikvision, UniFi Protect, Milestone, Blue Iris and most other VMS platforms. WizSense AI events are only forwarded natively to Dahua recorders, however.
Indoor or outdoor?
Both. IP66 / IK08 ratings cover outdoor exposure (rain, dust, vandalism) and the −30°C to +60°C operating range comfortably handles AU climates from Hobart to Darwin.
What's in the box?
Camera, mounting screws/anchors, waterproof RJ-45 boot, hex key, quick start guide. Pendant, wall and pole bracket adapters are sold separately — let our team know your install type at order time.
What are the warranty terms?
3-Year AU Warranty through CCTV Guru, covering manufacturing defects on locally-stocked product. Storm, surge, lightning and physical-damage events are excluded — pair coastal installs with surge protection to keep coverage intact.
