Custom LTU Silicon
Ubiquiti's purpose-built airFiber LTU IC surpasses the limits of generic Wi-Fi chipsets, delivering low latency, long range, DFS flexibility, higher-order modulation, and superior receive sensitivity for the WISP industry.
Up to 1.34 Gbps Real Throughput
Line-rate packet processing and 21.2 bps/Hz spectral efficiency deliver up to 1.34 Gbps of real data throughput with 4096QAM, plus innovative xtreme Range Technology (xRT™).
Adaptive Modulation up to 4096QAM
Adaptive modulation rates scale up to 4096QAM (firmware 1.1.2+), letting operators push links far beyond 256QAM and increase speed with a simple software upgrade.
Flexible Channel Widths & Split TX/RX
Selectable channel widths from 10 to 100 MHz with independent TX and RX frequency and bandwidth configuration let you avoid local interference and scale capacity efficiently.
GPS Synchronisation & Co-Location
Precise GPS frame sync frees the radio from interference for superior co-location, ideal where tower space is limited. Configurable 2, 2.5, 4 and 5 ms frames stay compatible with airMAX networks.
Dual Redundant Gigabit PoE
Two Gigabit Ethernet ports provide redundant PoE power for fail-safe uptime, while built-in Bluetooth enables quick wireless configuration in the field.
AlignLock & Persistent Spectrum Analysis
AlignLock™ alerts you if aiming shifts from tampering, impact, or storm damage, while a dedicated RX runs real-time full-band airView® spectral analysis without dropping the link.
IP67 Build & AES-256 Security
An included IP67 upgrade kit seals out dust and water across a wide −40°C to 55°C range, with enhanced surge protection and AES-256 link encryption for carrier-grade reliability.
How many AF-5XHD radios do I need for a link?
A Point-to-Point backhaul requires two AF-5XHD radios — one set as Master and one as Slave — each paired with a compatible airFiber X or RocketDish antenna.
What throughput and range can it achieve?
Up to 1.34 Gbps of real throughput (with 4096QAM on firmware 1.1.2+) over distances of up to 100 km, depending on antennas and environmental conditions.
Which antennas are compatible?
airFiber X slant-polarised antennas (AF-5G23-S45, AF-5G30-S45, AF-5G34-S45) and RocketDish RD-5G30 / RD-5G34 using the included bracket or the AF-5G-OMT-S45 conversion kit.
Is it weatherproof for Australian outdoor sites?
Yes. An included IP67 upgrade kit and a −40°C to 55°C operating range, plus enhanced surge protection, suit harsh Australian tower and rooftop deployments.
How is it powered and configured?
It ships with a 24V 1A Gigabit PoE adapter and supports dual redundant Gigabit Ethernet ports. Configure wirelessly via built-in Bluetooth, airOS LTU, or the UNMS app.
Does it support GPS synchronisation?
Yes. Configurable GPS frame sync (2, 2.5, 4, 5 ms frames) enables interference-free co-location and is compatible with other synchronous airMAX systems.
