What is the difference between the VIGI C240 and the VIGI C240I?
The VIGI C240 features 24-hour full-colour night vision using supplemental white light, delivering colour footage even in complete darkness. The VIGI C240I uses traditional infrared (IR) night vision, which produces black-and-white footage in low light. Choose the C240 where colour detail at night is important (e.g., vehicle colour, clothing colour); choose the C240I where you prefer discreet, low-visibility night illumination.
Does the full-colour mode activate automatically at night?
Yes. The camera automatically activates its supplemental white light and switches to full-colour mode when ambient light drops below a set threshold. This can be configured via the VIGI app or web UI.
Can I power the camera without a PoE switch?
Yes. The C240 supports both PoE (802.3af) and 12V DC power. If you don’t have a PoE switch, you can use a standard 12V DC power adapter (sold separately) to power the camera directly.
Does the built-in microphone record audio continuously?
Yes, when audio recording is enabled in the camera settings, the built-in microphone records audio continuously alongside the video stream. Audio recording can be enabled or disabled via the web UI or VIGI app.
