Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a cloud subscription to use the Tapo H200?
No. The H200 stores video locally on a microSD card (up to 512GB), so there's no mandatory cloud subscription. You can optionally use Tapo Care cloud storage for additional redundancy, but it's not required for core functionality.
What microSD card should I use?
TP-Link recommends a Class 10 or UHS-I microSD card. The hub supports cards up to 512GB. The card is not included and must be purchased separately.
Can the H200 trigger an audible alarm?
Yes. When paired with Tapo motion sensors, door/window sensors, or cameras, the H200 can sound an alarm at up to 90dB — loud enough to deter intruders and alert occupants. You can customise the ringtone and volume through the Tapo app.
How many cameras can I connect to the H200?
The H200 supports up to 4 Tapo cameras or video doorbells simultaneously, alongside up to 64 other Tapo sensors, switches, and buttons.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Local recording to microSD continues without internet. However, remote app access, push notifications, and voice assistant features require an active internet connection.
Is the Tapo H200 compatible with Apple HomeKit?
No. The H200 currently supports Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Apple HomeKit is not supported at this time.
