Does the EAP653 require a controller to operate?
No. The EAP653 can operate in standalone mode via the Omada app without a controller. However, for multi-AP deployments, centralised management via an Omada Hardware Controller (e.g. OC300), Software Controller, or Omada Cloud is strongly recommended.
What PoE switch do I need to power the EAP653?
The EAP653 requires an 802.3at PoE+ switch or injector (minimum 25.5 W per port). TP-Link's Omada PoE switches such as the TL-SG2210P or TL-SG3428XPP are compatible and recommended for a fully managed Omada SDN deployment.
How many access points can I manage with one Omada controller?
The Omada Software Controller (free) supports unlimited APs on a local network. The Omada Cloud-Based Controller supports scalable multi-site management with a per-device licence model.
