What makes Wi-Fi 6E different from Wi-Fi 6?
Wi-Fi 6E extends Wi-Fi 6 technology into the 6 GHz frequency band, which is currently free from congestion caused by legacy Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi 5 devices. This means less interference, wider 160 MHz channels, and consistently faster speeds for 6E-capable devices such as recent smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
Do all three units need to be plugged into my router?
No. Only one Deco XE75 Pro unit connects to your modem or router via Ethernet. The remaining two units connect wirelessly via the dedicated 6 GHz backhaul, or optionally via Ethernet cable for maximum performance. Place them throughout your home to extend coverage.
Will the 6 GHz band work with my existing devices?
The 6 GHz band is only accessible to Wi-Fi 6E-capable devices (most flagship smartphones and laptops released from 2021 onwards). Older devices will automatically connect to the 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz bands as normal — the Deco XE75 Pro is fully backward compatible with all Wi-Fi generations.
Can I use the 2.5G port with my NBN connection?
Yes. The 2.5G WAN port allows you to take full advantage of high-speed NBN plans (such as NBN 1000) that exceed standard Gigabit speeds. Connect your NBN modem or ONT to the 2.5G port on the primary Deco unit for maximum wired throughput.
Is the Deco XE75 Pro compatible with other Deco models I already own?
Yes. The Deco XE75 Pro is compatible with all other Deco models and can be added to an existing Deco mesh network, or existing Deco units can be added to an XE75 Pro network. All units are managed together from the single Deco app.
What is TP-Link HomeShield and does it cost extra?
HomeShield is TP-Link’s built-in network security suite providing real-time IoT protection, parental controls with content filtering and screen time limits, and network usage reports. Basic HomeShield features are included at no cost. HomeShield Pro, which unlocks advanced features, is available via an optional subscription.
