Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Archer BE805 support Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E devices?
Yes. The BE805 is fully backwards compatible with Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 5, and older Wi-Fi standards. All your existing devices will connect and benefit from the improved network management of Wi-Fi 7.
What is Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and why does it matter?
MLO is a Wi-Fi 7 feature that allows a device to send and receive data across multiple frequency bands simultaneously. This reduces latency and improves reliability — particularly useful for gaming, video calls, and real-time applications.
Do I need a Wi-Fi 7 internet plan to use this router?
No. The Archer BE805 works with any NBN or broadband connection. The Wi-Fi 7 speeds refer to wireless performance within your local network. You will, however, need a 10G internet service to fully utilise the 10G WAN port.
Is the 6 GHz band available in Australia?
Yes. The 6 GHz band (Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7) is approved for use in Australia by the ACMA. The Archer BE805 is compliant with Australian regulatory requirements.
Can I use the BE805 as part of a mesh network?
Yes. The Archer BE805 is compatible with TP-Link's EasyMesh standard and can work alongside other TP-Link mesh nodes such as the Deco BE85 to extend coverage across larger properties.
What security features are included?
The BE805 includes WPA3 encryption, a built-in firewall, and TP-Link HomeShield — which provides real-time threat detection, parental controls, and network monitoring via the Tether app. A HomeShield Pro subscription unlocks advanced features.
