Description
Next-Generation Wi-Fi 6 Speed for the Whole Home
The TP-Link Archer AX55 brings Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) technology to Australian homes, delivering combined speeds of up to 3000Mbps across dual bands. With OFDMA for handling more devices simultaneously, Beamforming for targeted signal strength, and OneMesh compatibility for seamless whole-home coverage, it's built for households that stream, game, video call, and connect dozens of smart devices — all at the same time.
Key Features
-
AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402Mbps on 5GHz (HE160) and 574Mbps on 2.4GHz — significantly faster than Wi-Fi 5 for 4K streaming, gaming, and large file transfers.
-
OFDMA Technology: Increases network capacity by up to 4×, enabling simultaneous data transmission to multiple devices without congestion.
-
Ultra-Low Latency: Up to 75% reduction in latency compared to Wi-Fi 5 — ideal for online gaming, video conferencing, and real-time applications.
-
4× High-Gain External Antennas with Beamforming: Concentrates Wi-Fi signal towards connected devices to extend range and improve reliability throughout 3-bedroom homes.
-
OneMesh Compatible: Pair with a TP-Link OneMesh range extender to create a seamless, single-network mesh system with automatic roaming between nodes.
-
Intel Home Wi-Fi Chipset: Delivers superior processing performance for consistent Wi-Fi 6 speeds under heavy multi-device load.
-
Target Wake Time (TWT): Reduces battery drain on connected Wi-Fi devices such as smartphones, laptops, and smart home sensors.
-
TP-Link HomeShield Security: Built-in network security with real-time threat detection, parental controls, and IoT device protection via the Tether app.
-
DFS Support: Accesses additional 5GHz channels to reduce interference in congested Wi-Fi environments.
-
Alexa Compatible: Control your router with Amazon Alexa voice commands for hands-free network management.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Wi-Fi 6 and do I need it?
Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is the latest Wi-Fi standard, offering faster speeds, lower latency, and better performance in homes with many connected devices compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). If you have 10 or more devices, stream 4K video, game online, or work from home, Wi-Fi 6 will deliver a noticeably better experience.
Is the Archer AX55 compatible with my existing devices?
Yes. The Archer AX55 is fully backwards compatible with Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), and older Wi-Fi standards. All your existing devices will connect and work normally, with Wi-Fi 6 devices benefiting from the improved speeds and efficiency.
What is OneMesh and how does it work?
OneMesh is TP-Link's mesh Wi-Fi system. By pairing the Archer AX55 with a compatible TP-Link OneMesh range extender, you create a single unified network with one SSID. Your devices automatically roam to the strongest signal as you move around your home, eliminating dead zones and connection drops.
Does it work with the NBN?
Yes. The Archer AX55 is compatible with all NBN connection types including FTTP, FTTC, FTTN, FTTB, and HFC. For FTTP and HFC connections, you connect the router directly to the NBN connection box. For FTTN and FTTB, you'll need a modem router or a separate VDSL modem.
What is TP-Link HomeShield?
HomeShield is TP-Link's built-in network security suite, providing real-time threat detection, malicious site blocking, parental controls with content filtering, and IoT device protection. Basic HomeShield features are free; advanced features require a HomeShield Pro subscription.
Can I manage the router remotely?
Yes. The free TP-Link Tether app (iOS and Android) allows you to manage your router from anywhere — view connected devices, set parental controls, run speed tests, and reboot the router remotely.
