Does this kit need a UniFi Protect subscription?
No. UniFi Protect runs locally on the UNVR Instant. There are no monthly fees or cloud subscriptions — all footage is stored on the built-in drive.
What resolution are the cameras?
The four G5 Turret Ultra cameras capture 2K — 4MP at 2688 × 1512 — at up to 30 FPS, with 30 m IR night vision.
Is a hard drive included?
Yes. A 1TB surveillance-grade 3.5″ HDD comes pre-installed. The single bay supports larger drives if you need longer recording retention.
Can I add more cameras later?
Yes. The UNVR Instant manages up to 6 4K, 8 2K, or 15 HD cameras total. Additional cameras can be powered by the 6 onboard PoE ports or a separate UniFi PoE switch.
Are the cameras suitable for outdoor use in Australia?
Yes. The cameras are IP66 weatherproof, IK04 tamper-resistant, and rated −30°C to 50°C — suited to Australian outdoor environments including coastal and high-UV areas.
Is the kit NDAA compliant?
Yes. Ubiquiti is a US-based manufacturer and both the UNVR Instant and G5 Turret Ultra cameras are NDAA Section 889 compliant — suitable for government and security-sensitive sites.
