Does the G4 Doorbell require a UniFi Protect subscription?
No. UniFi Protect runs locally on a UniFi Protect host such as a UNVR, Cloud Key Gen2 Plus, or Dream Machine Pro/SE. There are no monthly fees or cloud subscriptions.
How is it powered?
It wires into a standard 16–24V AC doorbell transformer (50/60 Hz). It is not a PoE device. If you don't have an existing transformer, one will need to be installed.
Is the camera 5MP or 2MP?
It uses a 5MP CMOS sensor and records video at 1600×1200 (2MP, 4:3) up to 30 FPS — a tall aspect ratio ideal for seeing visitors head-to-toe and packages at the door.
Can I show a message to visitors?
Yes. The built-in display can be programmed with custom messages through the UniFi Protect app or web interface.
Is it suitable for outdoor use in Australia?
Yes. The IPX4-rated polycarbonate enclosure and a −10°C to 40°C operating range suit a sheltered front-door location. The included 20° wedge mount helps angle it toward your path.
