Description
8-Port 2.5G L2+ Managed Switch with 2×10G SFP+ Uplinks and Omada SDN
The TP-Link Omada SG3210X-M2 delivers enterprise-grade 2.5G switching in a compact, rack-mountable 1U form factor. With eight 2.5GBASE-T ports and two 10G SFP+ uplinks, it's purpose-built for high-density Wi-Fi 6/6E access point aggregation, SMB server and NAS connectivity, and campus edge networks — all managed centrally through the Omada SDN platform with Zero-Touch Provisioning and free cloud management across Australia.
Key Features
-
8× 2.5GBASE-T Ports: Full 2.5Gbps per port with backward compatibility for 1Gbps and 100Mbps devices — migrate to 2.5G incrementally without replacing existing infrastructure.
-
2× 10G SFP+ Uplink Slots: High-bandwidth 10G fibre or DAC uplinks to core switches for fast, low-latency backbone aggregation.
-
40 Gbps Non-Blocking Switching Capacity: Handles simultaneous full-speed traffic across all ports without bottlenecks.
-
Omada SDN Integration: Centrally manage alongside Omada routers and access points via cloud or local controller — with Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) for rapid remote deployment across multiple sites.
-
L2+ Static Routing: Routes inter-VLAN traffic without a dedicated router, improving efficiency in segmented networks.
-
L2/L3/L4 QoS with 8 Priority Queues: Advanced traffic prioritisation with Voice VLAN support — ensures smooth Wi-Fi 6 AP traffic, VoIP calls, and video streams under heavy load.
-
IGMP Snooping: Optimises multicast traffic for IP camera streams and IPTV, reducing unnecessary bandwidth consumption.
-
Enterprise Security Suite: IP-MAC-Port Binding, ACL (L2–L4), Port Security, DoS Defence, Storm Control, DHCP Snooping, 802.1X, RADIUS/TACACS+ Authentication.
-
ISP-Grade Features: 802.3ah OAM, DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring), sFlow, QinQ, L2PT, PPPoE ID Insertion, and IGMP Authentication for carrier and ISP deployments.
-
IPv6 Ready: Dual IPv4/IPv6 Stack, MLD Snooping, DHCPv6 Snooping, and IPv6 ACL for next-generation network readiness.
-
Enterprise Management: Web GUI, CLI (Console, Telnet, SSH), SNMP v1/v2c/v3, RMON, Dual Image, and Dual Configuration for maximum uptime and flexibility.
-
Link Aggregation (LACP): 802.3ad LACP for bonding multiple ports into high-bandwidth uplinks with redundancy.
-
3-Year Warranty: Backed by TP-Link Australia's 3-year warranty for peace of mind in professional deployments.
Common Use Cases
- Wi-Fi 6/6E access point aggregation — eliminating 1G bottlenecks when backhauling high-throughput APs in offices, schools, and hospitality venues
- SMB server and NAS connectivity with 2.5G links for faster local file transfers and backups
- Campus edge and ISP distribution leveraging OAM, QinQ, and sFlow for carrier-grade deployments
- Secure enterprise LAN with granular ACL, 802.1X, and RADIUS/TACACS+ access control
- Unified Omada networks — paired with Omada APs and gateways for a fully converged, cloud-managed wired and wireless network

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the SG3210X-M2 compatible with non-Omada networks?
Yes. It can be managed standalone via web GUI or CLI without the Omada controller. Omada SDN integration is optional but recommended for multi-site deployments requiring centralised management and Zero-Touch Provisioning.
Can I use standard 1G devices on the 2.5G ports?
Yes. All eight RJ45 ports are backward compatible with 1Gbps and 100Mbps devices — they auto-negotiate to the highest speed supported by the connected device. This allows you to migrate to 2.5G incrementally as you upgrade devices.
What SFP+ modules are supported in the uplink ports?
The two 10G SFP+ ports support TP-Link-compatible 10G SR/LR transceivers (e.g. TL-SM5110-SR, TL-SM5110-LR) and 10G DAC cables (e.g. TL-SM5220-1M). Check the TP-Link compatibility list for third-party module support.
Does it support PoE?
No. The SG3210X-M2 does not include PoE. For deployments requiring PoE-powered access points or IP cameras, consider pairing it with a TP-Link Omada PoE switch (e.g. TL-SG3428XMP or TL-SG3428XPP-M2) as an access layer switch, with the SG3210X-M2 as the aggregation/distribution layer.
Is Omada cloud management free?
Yes. Omada cloud management is available at no additional cost via the Omada app or web portal with a free TP-Link account. There is no ongoing subscription fee for standard cloud management features.
What is the difference between the SG3210X-M2 and the TL-SG3428XPP-M2?
The SG3210X-M2 has 8× 2.5G non-PoE ports and 2× 10G SFP+ uplinks — ideal as a compact aggregation or distribution switch. The TL-SG3428XPP-M2 has 24× 2.5G ports with 16× PoE+ and 8× PoE++ (up to 90W), plus 4× 10G SFP+ uplinks — designed as a high-density access layer switch for powering and connecting many devices simultaneously. Choose the SG3210X-M2 for aggregation or small deployments; choose the TL-SG3428XPP-M2 for large PoE access layer deployments.
