The AXIS P3278-LVE is a professional outdoor fixed dome camera delivering 8MP video at up to 3840 × 2160 and 25/30 fps. Its 1/1.8-inch sensor, Lightfinder 2.0, Forensic WDR and built-in OptimizedIR help preserve useful detail across daylight, backlit and low-light scenes.
Built on the ARTPEC-9 system-on-chip with a deep learning processing unit, the camera runs advanced analytics at the edge. Its robust enclosure is rated IP66, IP67, NEMA 4X and IK10 for exposed commercial, industrial, transport and public-space installations.

Edge-Based Analytics and Efficient Video
AXIS Object Analytics can detect, classify, track and count humans and vehicles—including cars, buses, trucks and bikes. Supported scenarios include line crossing, object in area, time in area, occupancy and crossline counting. AXIS Image Health Analytics can detect a blocked, redirected, blurred or underexposed image, while AXIS Live Privacy Shield provides real-time masking options for people, faces, licence plates and backgrounds.
Axis Zipstream helps reduce bandwidth and storage requirements while retaining important forensic detail. The camera supports AV1, H.264, H.265 and Motion JPEG video compression, plus microSD card and network-attached storage recording.
Lightfinder 2.0 and Forensic WDR
Lightfinder 2.0 helps retain colour and detail in low-light scenes. Forensic WDR, rated up to 120 dB depending on the scene, balances bright and dark areas in challenging lighting.
Cybersecurity with Axis Edge Vault
Axis Edge Vault provides a hardware-based foundation for device security. Features include a secure element, signed operating system, secure boot, encrypted file system and signed video.

Is the AXIS P3278-LVE suitable for outdoor installation?Yes. It is rated IP66, IP67 and NEMA 4X for exposed environments, operates between −40°C and 50°C, and has an IK10 impact-resistance rating.
Does it have a built-in microphone?No. It supports an external microphone or line-level audio through its 3.5 mm input, but it does not contain a built-in microphone.
How far does the infrared illumination reach?Axis specifies an IR reach of 40 metres or more. Actual performance depends on the scene, camera configuration, surfaces and ambient conditions.
Is it NDAA and TAA compliant?Axis states that its entire product portfolio complies with Section 889 of the FY2019 NDAA. The AXIS P3278-LVE datasheet specifically lists this camera as TAA compliant. Suitability should still be confirmed against the requirements of each procurement or project.
