Frequently Asked Questions
Does every port on the TL-SG116P support PoE+?
Yes. All 16 ports are PoE+ capable, each delivering up to 30W. There are no dedicated uplink ports that consume PoE budget without powering devices.
How many IP cameras can the TL-SG116P power simultaneously?
With a 120W total PoE budget, the number of cameras depends on each camera’s power draw. For example, 16 cameras drawing 7.5W each would consume exactly 120W. Most standard IP cameras draw between 5W and 15W, so real-world capacity is typically 8–16 cameras depending on the models used.
What is Extend Mode and when should I use it?
Extend Mode increases the maximum cable run from the standard 100m Ethernet limit to 250 metres by reducing the link speed to 10Mbps. It’s ideal for perimeter cameras, gate cameras, or any device located far from the switch on a large property. Enable it via the hardware DIP switch on the unit.
What does PoE Auto Recovery do?
PoE Auto Recovery periodically checks the status of connected PoE devices. If a device (such as an IP camera or wireless AP) stops responding, the switch automatically cuts and restores power to reboot it — similar to unplugging and replugging the device — without any manual intervention required.
Can I use the TL-SG116P with non-PoE devices?
Yes. The switch automatically detects whether a connected device is PoE-capable. Non-PoE devices (such as computers or NVRs) connect normally via Ethernet without receiving any power — there is no risk of damage to non-PoE equipment.
Is the TL-SG116P managed or unmanaged?
The TL-SG116P is an unmanaged switch — it requires no software, web interface, or configuration to operate. Mode settings (Extend, Priority, Isolation) are configured via physical DIP switches on the unit. If you require VLAN, QoS, or remote management, consider TP-Link’s managed PoE switch range.
Is it fanless?
Yes. The TL-SG116P operates silently without a cooling fan, making it suitable for quiet environments such as offices, reception areas, and meeting rooms.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the TL-SG3452X and the TL-SG3452XP?
The TL-SG3452X provides 48 Gigabit ports with no PoE, making it suited for environments where connected devices have their own power supply — such as PCs, servers, and IP phones with separate power adapters. The TL-SG3452XP adds 802.3af/at PoE+ on all 48 ports with a 500W budget, suited for powering access points, IP cameras, and VoIP phones via PoE. The TL-SG3452X is the lower-cost option where PoE is not required.
What is Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) and how does it work?
Zero-Touch Provisioning allows the TL-SG3452X to automatically download its configuration from the Omada cloud controller on first boot — without any on-site manual configuration. This is particularly valuable for multi-site deployments where switches are shipped directly to remote locations and configured remotely by a central IT team, eliminating the need for a technician to be present at each site during installation.
Does the TL-SG3452X require an Omada Controller?
No. The TL-SG3452X supports full standalone management via web UI, CLI (Console, Telnet, SSH), SNMP, and RMON without any controller. Omada SDN integration and ZTP are optional features that add centralised multi-device management, cloud access, and remote provisioning — recommended for large or multi-site deployments.
Can I add PoE to the TL-SG3452X?
The TL-SG3452X does not support PoE on its RJ45 ports and cannot be upgraded to add PoE. If PoE is required for some or all ports, consider the TL-SG3452XP (48 × PoE+ ports, 500W budget) or deploy a separate PoE switch or PoE injector for specific devices that require PoE power.
What SFP+ modules or cables are compatible with the uplink slots?
The four SFP+ slots support standard 10GE SFP+ modules including TP-Link’s own SFP+ transceivers (single-mode and multi-mode fibre) and DAC (Direct Attach Copper) cables. Check TP-Link’s compatibility list for third-party SFP+ module support.

For example, 48 × 10W PoE cameras would draw 480W — within budget. 48 × 15W Wi-Fi 6 APs would draw 720W — exceeding the budget. Plan your PoE device power requirements carefully and prioritise higher-wattage devices across ports if needed.
What is the maximum PoE wattage per port?
Each port supports up to 30W (IEEE 802.3at PoE+). The total across all 48 ports is capped at 500W. If you need more than 30W per port for high-power devices such as Wi-Fi 6E APs or PTZ cameras, consider the TL-SX3206HPP which supports up to 60W per port (IEEE 802.3bt PoE++).
Does the TL-SG3452XP require an Omada Controller?
No. The TL-SG3452XP supports full standalone management via web UI, CLI (Console, Telnet, SSH), SNMP, and RMON without any controller. Omada SDN integration is optional and adds centralised multi-device management, cloud access, and the Omada app interface — recommended for large deployments with multiple switches and APs.
What SFP+ modules or cables are compatible with the uplink slots?
The four SFP+ slots support standard 10GE SFP+ modules including TP-Link’s own SFP+ transceivers (single-mode and multi-mode fibre) and DAC (Direct Attach Copper) cables. Check TP-Link’s compatibility list for third-party SFP+ module support.
Can this switch be used as a standalone access layer switch without a core switch?
Yes. The TL-SG3452XP can operate as a standalone access layer switch connected directly to a router or modem via one of its SFP+ uplink ports. The Static Routing feature allows basic inter-VLAN routing without a dedicated Layer 3 core switch, making it suitable for medium-sized deployments that don’t require a full three-tier network architecture.
Is the TL-SG3452XP suitable for outdoor IP camera deployments?
The switch itself is designed for indoor rack installation. It can power outdoor-rated PoE IP cameras via indoor-to-outdoor cabling runs of up to 100 metres. Ensure the cable is rated for outdoor use and the camera carries an appropriate IP weather rating for its installation location.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this switch have 2.5G ports instead of standard Gigabit?
Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E access points can aggregate more than 1Gbps of wireless throughput from connected clients. A standard Gigabit uplink port creates a bottleneck that limits the AP's performance. The TL-SG3428XPP-M2's 2.5GBASE-T ports provide up to 2.5Gbps per port — eliminating this bottleneck and allowing Wi-Fi 6 APs to operate at full capacity. This is the primary reason to choose this switch over a standard Gigabit PoE switch for Wi-Fi 6 deployments.
What is the difference between PoE+ (802.3at) and PoE++ (802.3bt)?
PoE+ (802.3at) delivers up to 30W per port — sufficient for most IP cameras, standard Wi-Fi 6 APs, and VoIP phones. PoE++ (802.3bt) delivers up to 90W per port — required for high-power devices such as Wi-Fi 6E tri-band APs, PTZ cameras, digital signage displays, and thin clients. The TL-SG3428XPP-M2 provides 16 PoE+ ports and 8 PoE++ ports to support mixed deployments.
What is the difference between the TL-SG3428XPP-M2 and the TL-SG3428XMP?
The TL-SG3428XPP-M2 has 24× 2.5G ports (vs 24× 1G on the TL-SG3428XMP), includes 8× PoE++ ports at up to 90W (vs PoE+ only at 30W max), and supports ISP-grade features (OAM, sFlow, QinQ). The TL-SG3428XMP has a 384W PoE budget and is the better choice for standard Gigabit PoE+ deployments at a lower price point. Choose the TL-SG3428XPP-M2 for Wi-Fi 6/6E deployments requiring 2.5G uplinks and high-power PoE++ devices.
What is Omada SDN and do I need a controller?
Omada SDN is TP-Link's centralised network management platform. The TL-SG3428XPP-M2 can be managed via the Omada cloud (no hardware controller required), a hardware Omada controller (OC300/OC200), or a software controller on a local server. Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) allows the switch to be pre-configured in the cloud and automatically download its configuration when connected on site.
What TP-Link access points are recommended to pair with this switch?
The TL-SG3428XPP-M2 is ideal for pairing with TP-Link Omada Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E access points that support 2.5G uplinks, such as the EAP670, EAP680, and EAP683. Frequently Asked Questions
Does the EAP655-Wall fit Australian standard wall boxes?
The EAP655-Wall is compatible with 86mm, EU, and US standard junction boxes. Australian standard wall boxes vary — confirm your existing back box dimensions before purchasing. An 86mm square back box is the most common compatible size. A licensed electrician should perform the installation if in-wall cabling is involved.
Does it require an Omada Controller to operate?
No. The EAP655-Wall can operate in standalone mode without an Omada Controller for basic Wi-Fi access point functionality. An Omada Controller (hardware OC200 or software-based) is required for centralised multi-AP management, seamless roaming, guest portal authentication, and advanced network features.
What is PoE pass-through and how does it work?
PoE pass-through allows one of the EAP655-Wall’s downlink Gigabit ports to supply PoE power to a connected device — such as a VoIP phone or IP camera — without a separate power adapter. The EAP655-Wall receives PoE power from the uplink switch and passes a portion of that power through to the connected device.
How many EAP655-Wall units can I manage from one controller?
The Omada SDN platform supports large-scale deployments with hundreds of access points managed from a single controller interface. The OC200 hardware controller supports up to 100 devices; the OC300 supports up to 500. Software-based controllers have higher limits depending on the host hardware.
Can I use the guest portal for a hotel or café?
Yes. The EAP655-Wall supports multiple guest portal authentication methods including SMS verification, Facebook Wi-Fi login, and voucher-based access — all configurable through the Omada Controller. This makes it well-suited for hospitality, retail, and accommodation venues requiring branded or controlled guest Wi-Fi access.
Is the EAP655-Wall backward compatible with Wi-Fi 5 devices?
Yes. Wi-Fi 6 is backward compatible with Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), and older standards. All existing devices will connect and benefit from the improved network efficiency of Wi-Fi 6, even if they don’t support the full AX3000 speeds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to replace my Ethernet cables to use 2.5G speeds?
No. 2.5GBase-T runs over standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable up to 100m — the same cabling used for Gigabit Ethernet. If your existing cabling is Cat5e or better, you can achieve full 2.5Gbps speeds without any rewiring.
Will it work with my existing Gigabit switch?
Yes. The TX201 is backwards compatible and will automatically negotiate to 1Gbps when connected to a standard Gigabit switch. To achieve 2.5Gbps speeds, both the adapter and the connected switch or router port must support 2.5GBase-T (e.g. TP-Link TL-SG105-M2 or Deco X50-PoE).
Which PCIe slot does it use?
The TX201 uses a PCIe x1 slot (or larger — PCIe x4, x8, x16 slots are also compatible). Check your motherboard for an available PCIe slot before purchasing. It does not require an external power connector.
Is it compatible with Linux?
Yes. The TX201 supports Linux in addition to Windows 7 through 11 and Windows Server editions from 2008 R2 to 2022. Check the TP-Link product page for the latest driver downloads for your specific Linux distribution.
Can I use it in a mini-ITX or compact PC case?
Yes. A low-profile bracket is included in the box alongside the standard full-height bracket, making the TX201 compatible with compact mini-tower and small form factor PC cases that require a low-profile card.

Is the Deco X50-PoE suitable for NBN 1000 plans?
The Deco X50-PoE’s 2.5G port supports wired backhaul speeds beyond 1Gbps, making it well-suited for NBN 1000 plans when connected via the 2.5G port to a 2.5G-capable modem or switch. Wireless throughput in real-world conditions will vary; for maximum wireless performance on NBN 1000, ensure your client devices support Wi-Fi 6 and are within good range of the node.
Can the Deco X50-PoE be used as a standalone access point without a Deco router?
The Deco X50-PoE is designed to operate as part of a Deco mesh system. It can function as the primary Deco node (connected directly to your modem) or as a satellite node in an existing Deco mesh. It does not operate as a standalone access point in the traditional sense — a Deco app account and at least one primary Deco node are required for setup.
Is HomeShield free?
Basic HomeShield features including network scanning, simple parental controls, and new device notifications are available at no cost. Advanced features such as detailed content filtering, real-time threat intelligence, and comprehensive usage reports require a HomeShield Pro subscription, managed through the Deco app.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use just one Deco M4 unit, or do I need multiple?
A single Deco M4 unit covers up to 180m² and works as a standalone router. If your home is larger or has areas with weak signal, you can add additional Deco units at any time to extend coverage — they all work together as one seamless network.
Does the Deco M4 work with my Australian ISP?
Yes. The Deco M4 is compatible with all major Australian internet service providers including Telstra, Optus, TPG, Aussie Broadband, and others. It works with standard NBN modems and routers in both router and access point modes.
What is the difference between router mode and access point mode?
In router mode, the Deco M4 connects directly to your modem and manages your home network including DHCP and NAT. In access point mode, it connects to an existing router and extends Wi-Fi coverage without replacing your current network setup. Both modes are configured via the Deco app.
Can I mix Deco M4 units with other Deco models?
Yes. The Deco M4 is compatible with all other Deco models, so you can mix and match units to build or expand your mesh network as needed.
Does the Deco M4 support wired backhaul between units?
Yes. While Deco units connect wirelessly by default, you can use Ethernet cables between units for a wired backhaul connection, which provides faster and more reliable inter-unit speeds — particularly useful in larger homes or multi-storey installations.
How do I set up the Deco M4?
Download the free Deco app on iOS or Android and follow the step-by-step guided setup. Most users are up and running in under 10 minutes. No technical knowledge is required.
Installation Tip: For the best mesh performance in a multi-unit setup, position each Deco unit within a reasonable range of the next — not too close (overlapping coverage) and not too far (weak backhaul signal). A general guide is one unit per floor or one unit per 180m² of floor space.

Dahua 6 x 8MP Turret CCTV Kit — 4 WizSense IR + 2 TiOC 3.0 + 8CH PoE AI NVR
The Dahua 6 x 8MP Turret CCTV Kit combines the best of both worlds: four WizSense IR cameras for reliable 24/7 AI-powered surveillance across your property, and two TiOC 3.0 cameras with built-in siren, speaker, and red/blue strobe lights to actively deter intruders at your most critical entry points. All six cameras deliver 8MP (4K) resolution with Dahua’s SMD 4.0 AI engine — detecting humans and vehicles while ignoring animals, foliage, and false triggers.
The included 8-channel PoE AI NVR powers and connects every camera over a single Cat6 cable each, with 2 spare ports for future expansion. AcuPick lets you find any person or vehicle in recorded footage in seconds. Available in White or Black. HDD not included — add a surveillance-grade drive at checkout.

Key Features
TiOC 3.0 — Active Deterrence at Your Critical Entry Points
The 2 TiOC 3.0 cameras don’t just record — they respond. When SMD 4.0 detects a human or vehicle, the camera triggers a siren, two-way voice warning, and red/blue strobe lights simultaneously. Place them at your front gate, driveway, or main entry for maximum deterrent effect.
WizSense IR — Reliable 40m Night Vision Across Your Property
The 4 WizSense cameras deliver 40m IR night vision with SMD+ AI detection — covering driveways, yards, side gates, and building perimeters with clear black-and-white footage in complete darkness. Longer IR range than the TiOC cameras, ideal for larger open areas.
8MP (4K) Resolution — See Faces and Plates Clearly
At 3840 × 2160 pixels, each camera captures four times the detail of 1080p cameras. Faces at the front door, licence plates in the driveway, and product labels at the POS counter — all clearly identifiable in recorded footage.
SMD 4.0 — AI That Only Alerts on Humans and Vehicles
Dahua’s Smart Motion Detection 4.0 uses deep learning to classify motion as human or vehicle — ignoring animals, foliage, rain, and passing headlights. You get push notifications only when a real person or vehicle is detected. Dramatically reduces alarm fatigue.
AcuPick — Find Any Person or Vehicle in Seconds
AcuPick lets you search recorded footage by person or vehicle appearance — select a target from a snapshot and the NVR finds every matching clip across all cameras instantly. No more scrubbing through hours of footage to find a specific event.
Perimeter Protection — Tripwire & Intrusion Detection
Draw virtual boundaries on any camera view. The NVR triggers an alert only when a classified human or vehicle crosses the line or enters the zone. Ideal for driveways, gates, yard perimeters, and restricted areas.
8× PoE NVR — One Cable Per Camera
The NVR’s 8 built-in PoE ports deliver both power and network connectivity to each camera over a single Cat6 cable. No separate power supplies, no power boards, no extra cabling. Clean, professional installs with 2 spare ports for future expansion.
Two-Way Talk — Speak Through the TiOC Cameras
The TiOC 3.0 cameras include a built-in speaker and dual microphones for two-way audio communication. Speak to visitors, warn intruders, or communicate with staff — directly through the camera from the DMSS app on your phone.
120dB WDR — Clear Images in High-Contrast Lighting
The WizSense cameras feature 120dB Wide Dynamic Range — balancing exposure across bright and dark areas in the same frame. Shopfront windows, vehicle headlights at a gate, or a backlit doorway: subjects remain clearly visible.
IP67 Weatherproof — Built for Australian Conditions
All cameras are fully sealed against dust and water jets — rated for outdoor installation in all Australian weather conditions including coastal salt air, tropical rain, and outback dust and heat.
Recommended For
Residential Homes
Place TiOC 3.0 cameras at the front gate and driveway for active deterrence. WizSense IR cameras cover side gates, garage, and backyard with 40m IR night vision. DMSS app keeps you informed from anywhere.
Small Retail & Convenience Stores
TiOC 3.0 at the entry deters shoplifters with a visible siren and strobe. WizSense cameras cover the POS counter, stockroom, and car park with 8MP AI detection. AcuPick finds any person in seconds.
Warehouses & Industrial Sites
TiOC 3.0 at loading docks actively deters after-hours intruders. WizSense cameras cover large open areas and aisles with 40m IR and 8MP resolution. Perimeter Protection secures yard boundaries.
Small Offices & Commercial Premises
Plug-and-play PoE simplifies installation in comms rooms and cabinets. Fanless NVR runs silently. Remote access via DMSS keeps management informed without on-site visits.
Childcare Centres & Schools
SMD 4.0 reduces nuisance alerts in busy environments. 8MP resolution provides the detail needed for incident review and duty-of-care compliance. AcuPick speeds up footage review.
Airbnb & Rental Properties
TiOC 3.0 at entry points deters damage and unauthorised access. Remote monitoring via DMSS. MicroSD edge storage provides a backup if the NVR is tampered with.
Add a Surveillance HDD
HDD Not Included — Choose Your Capacity
The NVR has 1 × SATA HDD bay supporting drives up to 10TB. We recommend a WD Purple or Seagate SkyHawk surveillance-grade drive — purpose-built for 24/7 NVR workloads. Contact our team for a retention calculation based on your recording schedule.
Estimated Retention (6 × 8MP @ 15fps, H.265+, Motion-Only)
2TB ≈ 7–10 days · 4TB ≈ 14–20 days · 6TB ≈ 21–30 days. Continuous recording will reduce these estimates. Smart H.265+ compression significantly extends retention versus standard H.264 NVRs.
