Frequently Asked Questions
Does this kit need mains power or internet?No. The 100W solar panel and lithium battery power the system off-grid, and the camera's built-in 4G module streams to the Dahua mobile app over the mobile network — no mains power, no fixed internet, and no NVR required.
Do I need an NVR?No. The 4G camera records to its 8GB eMMC and a Micro SD card (up to 256GB) and is viewed live via the Dahua mobile app. There is nothing to wire back to a recorder.
What SIM does it use?The built-in 4G module supports all major mobile networks. You supply a standard data SIM — a plan with enough data for your streaming and recording needs is recommended.
Will it survive Australian weather?Yes. The camera is IP67 rated and the integrated solar mount is built to resist sustained winds up to 117 km/h, suitable for exposed rural and coastal sites.

Does a hard drive come included?No — the NVR has one SATA bay (up to 10 TB) but ships without storage. ~2 TB gives roughly 2–3 weeks on motion-only for four 8MP cameras.

What's the difference between the TiOC and Dual-Light cameras?The 2 TiOC cameras add active deterrence — a siren, red/blue strobe and two-way voice warning — so they scare intruders off, not just record. The 4 Smart Dual-Light cameras give continuous full-colour coverage. All six are 6MP.
Do all cameras record in colour at night?Yes — all 6 use a warm-light illuminator for 24/7 full colour. The Dual-Light cameras run invisible IR until AI detects a person or vehicle, then switch to warm light to capture colour.
Does this kit do AcuPick?The cameras are AcuPick-native and the included NVR4108 gives Quick Pick target search. For full AcuPick attribute search (find a person/vehicle by colour, clothing and direction) you'd pair them with a Dahua 5-Series NVR such as the NVR5208 — ask our team.
Does a hard drive come included?No — the NVR has one SATA bay (up to 10 TB) but ships without storage. For 6 × 6MP on motion-only, ~2 TB gives 10–14 days, ~3 TB gives around 2–3 weeks; choose more for continuous recording.
Can I add more cameras later?Yes. The NVR has 8 PoE ports and you're using 6, so you can add up to 2 more cameras by plugging them into the spare ports — no recorder upgrade needed.

What's the real difference between the 608H-128 and the 608H-32?
Same hardware platform — same 2U chassis with 8 HDD bays, same WizMind AI processor, same dual 2.5 GbE NICs, same 4 × HDMI outputs (including the 8K port). The differences are the IP channel licence (128 vs 32) and the AcuPick capacity (64 channels vs 32). At 128 channels, the recording bandwidth (1280 Mbps) is shared across four times as many cameras, so plan camera resolutions accordingly — 4 MP H.265+ is the sweet spot.
Does the WizMind series get a longer warranty?
Yes — WizMind 6-Series enterprise NVRs ship with a 5-year warranty in Australia, two years longer than the 3-year warranty on Dahua's WizSense (4-Series and 5-Series) products. The longer cover reflects the project-grade build and is part of why WizMind units carry a premium over WizSense.
Why does AcuPick only run on 64 channels when the NVR supports 128?
AcuPick is heavy on AI-chip resources — running attribute extraction and image-search against 128 channels simultaneously isn't possible on the current 6-Series silicon. You choose which 64 of the 128 channels run AcuPick (the rest still record, and still get ANPR / SMD Plus / perimeter via camera-side AI on Dahua WizSense or WizMind IPCs).
Why doesn't it have built-in PoE?
The 6-Series is purpose-built for enterprise headend deployments. 128 cameras through built-in PoE ports would mean a 4U+ chassis with extreme power draw. At this scale, sites always have a managed switching layer — pair this NVR with a stack of 24 or 48-port managed PoE+ switches across two or more network closets.
How big a PoE switch stack do I need for 128 cameras?
Allow about 7–15 W per camera for Dahua WizSense bullets/turrets, more for active-deterrence and PTZ cameras. Three 48-port PoE+ switches with ~370–500 W each will run 128 typical cameras comfortably, with spare ports for VoIP and APs. CCTV Guru can quote a complete switch + NVR + camera bundle.
How much storage do I need for 128 cameras at 30 days retention?
For 128 × 4 MP cameras at H.265+ on motion-record, expect ~80–110 TB for 30 days. Eight 16 TB surveillance-grade drives (WD Purple Pro, Seagate SkyHawk AI) in RAID 5 gives ~112 TB usable — exactly the right size with single-disk redundancy. For longer retention or higher resolution, add the ESS1504C eSATA expansion tray or use iSCSI to a NAS.
Can it be rack-mounted?
Yes — 2U / 444 mm wide fits a standard 19-inch rack with ears (rack ears sold separately). At 6.4 kg empty (without HDDs), plan for ~13–15 kg fully loaded with eight drives. The drawer-style HDD bays support hot-swapping, so you can replace failed drives without unmounting the chassis from the rack.

What's the difference between the TiOC and Dual-Light cameras?The TiOC camera adds active deterrence — a siren, red/blue strobe and two-way voice warning. The 3 Dual-Light cameras give continuous full-colour coverage. All four are 6MP.
Why is this called 3K?6MP (3072 × 2048) sits between 1080p and 4K — commonly marketed as 3K. More detail than 1080p, lower storage than 4K.
Do all cameras record in colour at night?Yes — all four use a warm-light illuminator for 24/7 full colour, with a selectable IR-only mode.
Does a hard drive come included?No — the NVR has one SATA bay (up to 10 TB) but ships without storage. ~2 TB gives roughly 3 weeks on motion-only for four 6MP cameras.

NVR5432 vs the family — where it sits
The 5432 is the enterprise headend in our Dahua range — twice the channel count of the 5216, twice the HDD bays, twice the network ports, and the only model with a 36-channel split and a 12 V alarm-output feed. The trade-off is the absence of built-in PoE: cameras must be powered through an external switch. Choose the 5216 instead if you want PoE built into the recorder; choose the 5432 (this model) when you're running more than 16 cameras through an existing managed network.

Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't the NVR5432 have built-in PoE?
The 5432 is a headend NVR designed for sites that already run a managed network. Cameras connect through an external PoE switch (Dahua's own PoE switches, or any IEEE 802.3af/at managed switch). This gives you VLAN segregation, redundant network paths and far better scaling than fixed 16-port PoE NVRs. If you'd prefer all-in-one with PoE built into the recorder, choose the 5216-16P-AI/ANZ instead.
How big a PoE switch do I need for 32 cameras?
Allow about 7-15 W per camera for most Dahua WizSense bullets/turrets, more for active-deterrence units and PTZs. A 24-port PoE+ switch with 370–500 W of budget will run 32 typical cameras comfortably; a 48-port managed PoE+ switch is more headroom and gives spare ports for VoIP, APs and APs. CCTV Guru can quote a complete switch + NVR bundle.
What is AcuPick and what do I need for it?
AcuPick is Dahua's next-generation attribute-and-image search — it extracts rich target attributes (clothing, body shape, vehicle make/model/colour/plate, direction) at the camera AND the NVR, then lets you search across all 32 channels by reference image or combined attributes. You need Dahua's AcuPick-ready cameras (typically TiOC PV and 5-Series WizSense Plus IPC families). Standard WizSense cameras still record and recognise faces but the full AcuPick depth requires paired AcuPick IPCs.
What's the dual NIC for?
Two independent Gigabit RJ-45 ports — use them for VLAN segregation (camera VLAN on NIC1, management/uplink VLAN on NIC2), or bond them for active-passive failover (NIC2 takes over if NIC1's switch port dies), or load-balance for combined throughput. Configured from the local GUI or web interface.
How much storage do I need for 32 cameras?
For 32 × 4 MP cameras at H.265+ on motion-record, allow ~25-35 TB for 30 days of retention. Four 8 TB or 10 TB surveillance-grade drives (WD Purple, Seagate SkyHawk) covers most use cases with disk-group protection. If on-board capacity isn't enough, iSCSI lets you expand onto network-attached storage or eSATA onto external archive arrays.
Can it be rack-mounted?
Yes — 1.5U / 440 mm wide fits a standard 19-inch rack with ears (rack ears sold separately). It can also sit on a desk or shelf if you've allocated cabinet space. At 4.74 kg empty (without HDDs), plan for around 7-8 kg fully loaded with four drives.
What's the 12 V alarm output for?
One of the 6 alarm outputs is a direct 12 V 1 A power feed — drive a siren, strobe light or electric strike directly without needing an external relay or power supply. The other 5 outputs are dry-contact relays you can wire to anything that takes a NO/NC trigger.

Important Install Note
This camera consumes 4 channels on most NVRs (one per sensor). PoE+ (802.3at) is required — the camera will not run on standard 802.3af PoE. How does this differ from the no-PoE NVR5432-AI/ANZ?
The 5432-16P (this model) has 16 built-in PoE+ ports — your first 16 cameras plug straight into the back of the recorder, no PoE switch required. The plain 5432-AI/ANZ has no built-in PoE and is for sites that already run a managed PoE switch. Same chassis, same AI, same 4 HDD bays — just the PoE difference.
What does ePoE on ports 1–8 give me?
Extended PoE — long-distance Cat6 runs at reduced speed. Ports 1–8 support 100 Mbps up to 300 m or 10 Mbps up to 800 m (most IP cameras work fine at 10 Mbps for sub-stream + main-stream H.265+). Eliminates intermediate switches on long perimeter or carpark runs. Ports 9–16 run standard PoE+ at up to 100 m.
How do I connect cameras 17–32?
Via your existing managed switch or VLAN. The licence supports up to 32 IP cameras on the NVR; you decide which 16 plug into the built-in PoE and which come in over the network. The Gigabit uplink and second NIC give you plenty of headroom to bring in another 16 channels of camera traffic.
What is AcuPick and what do I need for it?
AcuPick is Dahua's next-generation attribute-and-image search — it extracts rich target attributes at the camera AND the NVR, then lets you search across all 32 channels by reference image or combined attributes. You need Dahua's AcuPick-ready cameras (typically TiOC PV and 5-Series WizSense Plus IPC families). Standard WizSense cameras still record and recognise faces but the full AcuPick depth requires paired AcuPick IPCs.
How much storage do I need for 32 cameras?
For 32 × 4 MP cameras at H.265+ on motion-record, allow ~25–35 TB for 30 days of retention. Four 8 TB or 10 TB surveillance-grade drives (WD Purple, Seagate SkyHawk) covers most use cases with disk-group protection. If on-board capacity isn't enough, iSCSI lets you expand onto network-attached storage or eSATA onto external archive arrays.
Can it be rack-mounted?
Yes — 1.5U / 440 mm wide fits a standard 19-inch rack with ears (rack ears sold separately). It can also sit on a desk or shelf if you've allocated cabinet space. Plan for about 7–8 kg fully loaded with four drives.
What's the 12 V alarm output for?
One of the 6 alarm outputs is a direct 12 V 1 A power feed — drive a siren, strobe light or electric strike directly without needing an external relay or power supply. The other 5 outputs are dry-contact relays you can wire to anything that takes a NO/NC trigger.

What's the difference between the TiOC and turret cameras?The 4 TiOC cameras add active deterrence — red/blue strobe, a siren and two-way talk-down — so they scare intruders off, not just record. The 6 turrets are full-colour Smart Dual-Light cameras for wide everyday coverage.
Which NVR should I choose — 4216 or 5216?Both are 16-channel AI NVRs. The standard NVR4216 gives Quick Pick target search. The NVR5216 adds AcuPick, which lets you search footage by attributes (clothing colour, vehicle type, direction) — and since these TiOC cameras are AcuPick-native, the 5216 unlocks their full forensic-search potential.
Is the alarm too loud for a home?No — the TiOC siren volume is adjustable from 0–100% and the play count from 1–10 per trigger. Most homes run it at 30–50% to challenge intruders without disturbing neighbours.
Can I talk through the cameras?Yes. The 4 TiOC cameras have a built-in mic and speaker for full two-way audio through the free DMSS app — greet a courier or warn off an intruder from anywhere.
Does a hard drive come included?No — the NVR has two SATA bays but ships without storage. We recommend a surveillance-grade Seagate SkyHawk or WD Purple HDD; around 8 TB suits 10 cameras for roughly a month of recording.

Do they record in colour at night?Yes — full colour 24/7 via the warm-light array. You can also lock them to IR-only mode for discreet black-and-white at night if you prefer no visible light.
Does this kit do AcuPick?The cameras are AcuPick-native and the included NVR4108 gives Quick Pick target search. For full AcuPick attribute search, pair them with a Dahua 5-Series NVR such as the NVR5208 — ask our team.

For seamless 180° stitching, mount the PDW5849-A180 horizontally at 3–5 m on a wall, soffit or pole edge so both lenses share the same scene plane — ceiling-down installs break the panoramic geometry and are not recommended. The 4× warm white LEDs are bright enough to illuminate a driveway, so face them away from nearby bedroom windows or schedule the LEDs off during sleep hours via the camera’s illumination profile. Budget approximately 13 W of PoE per camera (802.3af is sufficient) and use a surge-rated PoE switch or in-line surge protector on coastal AU sites where lightning and salt air shorten unprotected runs.

Is the 180° image really seamless?
Yes — Dahua’s duo-splicing engine merges both 4 MP feeds on-camera into a single 8 MP panorama with the stitch line minimised. Mount horizontally at 3–5 m for the cleanest result.
Are the warm white LEDs always on?
No. You can run them always-on for full-colour 24/7, auto by ambient lux, schedule, or trigger-only on event — all configurable in the camera’s illumination profile.
Can colour mode work without the LEDs?
Yes — the F1.0 super-aperture and Starlight+ sensors deliver useable colour at very low lux without supplemental light. The LEDs are there for true full-colour 24/7 and as a visible deterrent.
How does this differ from a fisheye camera?
A fisheye uses one sensor and a hemispheric lens that needs dewarping — faces and plates at the edge stretch. The PDW5849-A180 uses two rectilinear lenses stitched into a flat 180° view, so subjects stay in correct proportion across the whole frame.
What is the best mounting height?
3–5 m horizontally is optimum. Below 3 m the stitch line becomes more visible on close subjects; above 5 m faces and plates start losing pixel density.
Does it count as one stream or two on the NVR?
One channel, one licence — the camera outputs a single stitched 8 MP stream over a single RJ-45 cable.
How much storage do I need for 8 MP?
Roughly 8–14 GB per day per camera at 8 MP H.265+ depending on scene activity. A 512 GB microSD covers ~40–60 days of continuous recording; pair with an NVR HDD for longer retention.
What is the two-way audio range?
The built-in speaker is intended for short-range deterrent and intercom-style call-outs (typically up to ~5–8 m clearly). For larger forecourts, integrate with an external PA via the audio I/O.
What warranty applies in Australia?

What is dual-lens 3D people counting?Two sensors view the scene from slightly different angles to build a 3D depth map. The camera counts people by height and volume, which is far more accurate than 2D motion counting in busy entrances.
Does it need a special NVR?It records to any compatible Dahua NVR over PoE and ONVIF. For full counting and occupancy reports, use a Dahua AI/WizMind NVR or Dahua's analytics platform.
Where should it be mounted?It is designed for indoor overhead mounting above entrances and aisles, where the dual lenses get a clear top-down view for counting accuracy.
How is it powered?A single Cat6 cable provides PoE (802.3af) power and data, or you can use a 12V DC supply.

The Dahua DH-PFM976-631-PT makes terminating CAT6 cables faster and more accurate. The pass-through design lets each wire feed all the way through the connector before crimping, so you can visually confirm correct order and seating — eliminating the guesswork that causes failed terminations on-site.
Each connector uses trident brass contacts with 15U" gold plating for reliable signal transmission and corrosion resistance, and is rated for 750 mating cycles. Supplied in a 100-piece pack — enough to get through a full installation job.
