Serial connectivity built in
Full RS232 (DB9) and RS485 (full & half duplex, up to 115200 baud) bring legacy PLCs, meters and SCADA gear onto the network with console, serial-over-IP, Modbus gateway and NTRIP modes.
Reliable 4G failover
4G LTE Cat 4 with 3G/2G fallback and dual-SIM auto-switching keeps remote sites online through weak signal, data limits, roaming and carrier outages — no truck roll required.
Automation & control I/O
Multiple digital inputs and outputs (including an isolated input and relay output) plus the RutOS I/O juggler let the router trigger events, control equipment and send alerts automatically.
GPS tracking & remote management
Built-in GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS) with geofencing, plus Teltonika RMS for zero-touch provisioning, monitoring and firmware updates across your whole fleet.
What's the difference between the RUT956 and RUT951?The RUT956 adds RS232 and RS485 serial ports, more digital inputs/outputs (including a relay and isolated input), a USB 2.0 port and GNSS/GPS — making it the choice for serial, automation and tracking applications.
What serial interfaces does it have?Full RS232 on a DB9 connector and RS485 in both full and half duplex, each up to 115200 baud, with console, serial-over-IP, Modbus gateway and NTRIP modes.
What mobile speeds does it support?A 4G LTE Cat 4 modem rated up to 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload, with automatic 3G and 2G fallback where LTE is weak.
Does it support Modbus?Yes. RutOS provides Modbus TCP master and slave, Modbus RTU over RS232/RS485, and an MQTT gateway to bridge serial Modbus devices to the cloud.
Does it have GPS?Yes. Built-in GNSS supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS with geofencing and coordinate reporting via WebUI, SMS, TAVL or RMS.
What can the inputs and outputs do?It has multiple digital inputs (including a galvanically isolated input), an analog input, an open-collector output and a 4 A SPST relay — all programmable with the RutOS I/O juggler.
Can it be powered over Ethernet?Yes. It accepts 9–30 VDC and passive PoE-in (Mode B, 9–50 VDC) on LAN1. This is passive PoE, not 802.3af/at/bt standard PoE.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?The RUT956 is rated IP30 for indoor or enclosure mounting. For exposed sites, install it inside a weatherproof cabinet.
What warranty applies in Australia? The RUT956 carries a 2-year (24-month) warranty, backed by local Australian support.
