WizSense AI · Penta-brid · 4-Channel
The Dahua DH-XVR5104HS-I3-S3 is a 4-channel Penta-brid HDCVI recorder that handles five video signals on one box — HDCVI, AHD, TVI, CVBS analog, plus IP. Drop it in to replace an old DVR using the existing coax runs, or expand it later by converting analog channels to IP for up to 6 IP cameras at 6 MP . It records at up to 5 MP HDCVI per channel , supports Smart H.265+ for roughly half the storage of H.264, and ships with Dahua's WizSense AI chip for deep-learning human and vehicle filtering.
Designed for small retail, workshops, residences and offices, the XVR5104HS-I3-S3 fits a compact 1U desktop chassis with one SATA bay (up to 16 TB), HDMI + VGA simultaneous outputs, and free remote viewing through the DMSS mobile app. Backed by a 3-year warranty and Australian tech support from CCTV Guru.
Penta-brid — five signal types, one recorder
Signal Types
HDCVI · AHD · TVI · CVBS · IP
Channel Capacity
4 Analog BNC + up to 6 IP
4 analog BNC inputs
Auto-detect HDCVI, AHD, TVI and CVBS signals on every channel. Plug in any mix — the XVR figures out the format for you.
+ up to 6 IP cameras
Two IP channels by default, plus four more when analog channels are converted to IP. Mix and match analog and IP up to six cameras total.
5 MP HDCVI recording
Full 5 MP @ 25 fps on HDCVI, 4 MP @ 30 fps, or 1080p @ 30 fps — far sharper than legacy 720p / 960H DVRs using the same coax cable.
Coaxial audio on all 4 channels
Carries audio over the same BNC coax — no extra audio cable, no extra RCA runs. Rare at this price point.
WizSense AI — deep-learning detection, fewer false alarms
Dedicated AI Chip
Independent deep-learning processor
Targeted Alerts
Filters out leaves, rain, shadows & lighting
SMD Plus on all 4 channels
Smart Motion Detection Plus runs a second AI pass on every motion event, classifying targets as person or vehicle and discarding false alarms from weather and lighting.
Perimeter Protection
Up to 4 channels of tripwire and intrusion analytics (10 IVS rules per channel) with human/vehicle secondary recognition to suppress nuisance triggers.
Face Detection & Recognition
One channel of face detection (up to 8 face snapshots/sec) and one channel of face recognition with up to 10 face databases and 10,000 stored images.
QuickPick 2.0 search
Find similar targets across recorded footage in seconds — paste a person or vehicle still and QuickPick scans the timeline for matches.
AI Video Quality analytics
Continuously checks all 4 channels for brightness, colour cast, defocus, overexposure and contrast issues — alerts you the moment a camera drifts out of spec.
AI Coding (Smart H.265+)
Smart H.265+ encoding cuts storage and bandwidth by up to 50% versus H.264 by lowering the bitrate on static background pixels and keeping detail on moving targets.

Frequently asked questions
Will this XVR work with my old analog CCTV cameras?
Yes. Penta-brid means every BNC input auto-detects HDCVI, AHD, TVI and CVBS — so any analog camera using one of those four standards plugs straight in. You don't need to know which format your cameras use; the XVR figures it out.
Can I add IP cameras to it?
Yes — 2 IP channels are available by default, and up to 4 more analog channels can be converted to IP, for a maximum of 6 IP cameras at up to 6 MP each. Note: when IP extension is enabled, the WizSense AI functions are not available on those converted channels.
Does it power my cameras (PoE)?
No. The XVR5104HS-I3-S3 is a HDCVI recorder, not a PoE NVR — your analog and IP cameras each need their own 12 VDC power supply or PoE injector. For a PoE-powered solution, look at the Dahua WizSense NVR4108-P-AI/H series.
What hard drive should I use?
Use a surveillance-rated SATA HDD — Western Digital Purple or Seagate SkyHawk up to 16 TB. Standard desktop drives are not rated for 24/7 recording and will fail prematurely. CCTV Guru stocks compatible drives if you need one bundled.
Is the XVR5104HS-I3-S3 NDAA Section 889 compliant?
No. Dahua products are not currently NDAA Section 889 compliant. If NDAA compliance is required (federal or government installs), choose a Uniview, Hanwha, Axis, Bosch or IDIS recorder instead — CCTV Guru can recommend an equivalent.
How do I view it remotely on my phone?
Install the free DMSS app on iOS or Android, scan the QR code on the XVR's local menu, and you'll have live view, playback, push notifications and two-way audio without configuring port forwarding or a static IP.
Does it run hot enough to need a fan or rack?
No — under 5 W idle (without HDD) and a compact 1U desktop chassis. It runs cool on a shelf or in a cabinet. Operating range is −10 °C to +55 °C.
Is the 3-year warranty backed locally?
Yes — CCTV Guru honours a 3-year warranty in Australia, with local tech support and replacement stock held in Sydney. No overseas RMAs, no shipping back to the manufacturer.
