NDAA Compliant • All-in-One 8-Channel Recorder
AXIS Camera Station S2208 Appliance (01580-006) — Australian Stock & 5-Year Warranty
The AXIS Camera Station S2208 Appliance collapses server, storage, licences and PoE switching into one 330 mm desktop or rack-mountable box. It ships preconfigured and preloaded with AXIS Camera Station, including 8 core licences tied to the hardware, 4 TB of surveillance-class storage and an integrated 8-port PoE switch with a 135 W budget — so a complete eight-camera Axis system comes up on site with no VMS build, no separate switch and no licence procurement. An Intel Core i3 with 8 GB RAM and a dedicated 120 GB SSD for the operating system keeps Windows off the recording drive, and the whole appliance is covered by Axis' 5-year warranty, hard drive included.
POE SWITCH
8 Ports • 135 W
One box, one part number, one afternoon
Specifying an Axis system normally means a recorder, a PoE switch, a Windows build, disks and per-channel licences from four different lines. The S2208 is all of that under a single SKU. Plug the cameras into the eight PoE ports, point the appliance at the network, and AXIS Camera Station is already installed and licensed for those eight channels. It is qualified for a total recording rate of up to 128 Mbit/s and supports live view of a single 4K stream full-screen, a 4-way 1080p split, or up to 8 cameras in split view across two monitors.
Licences already in the box
8 AXIS Camera Station core licences ship tied to the hardware, with all necessary system software. Additional licences can be added separately if the site grows.
Integrated managed PoE
Eight 802.3at Class 4 PoE ports share a 135 W budget, plus a gigabit RJ45 uplink and an SFP slot on the switch side for fibre or a longer-haul link back to the core network.
OS on its own SSD
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise lives on a dedicated 120 GB SSD with OS recovery built in, so a rebuild never puts your recorded footage at risk.
Encryption and TPM 2.0
Both the operating system drive and the recording drive support encryption, backed by a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified Trusted Platform Module.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy AXIS Camera Station licences separately? No. The S2208 ships with 8 AXIS Camera Station core licences tied to the hardware, plus all necessary system software. Additional licences are only needed if you exceed eight channels.
How many cameras can I actually connect? It is qualified for 8 video channels with a total recording rate up to 128 Mbit/s, and there are 8 PoE ports on the integrated switch. It is also qualified for up to 16 doors on the access control side.
Will the 135 W PoE budget run eight cameras? For typical Axis fixed domes and bullets drawing 6–12 W each, yes, comfortably. Heated outdoor housings, PTZs or 802.3bt devices draw far more — total those loads against the 135 W budget before committing, and power heavy devices from an external switch if needed.
Can I add more storage later?Yes. One of the two HDD bays is free, and Axis offers a matching Surveillance Hard Drive 4 TB. Note that this model does not support RAID, so a second disk adds capacity rather than redundancy.
Does it support RAID?No. The S2208 has no RAID support. For fault-tolerant storage, plan on scheduled backups, failover recording to camera SD cards, or step up to a larger Axis appliance.
How does it connect to the rest of the network? The switch side has a gigabit RJ45 uplink plus an SFP slot for fibre; the server side has its own gigabit RJ45. That lets you keep the camera network separate from the corporate LAN if your design calls for it.
Can I plug a monitor straight into it?Yes. HDMI and DisplayPort outputs are on the rear, with support for two monitors (one 4K maximum recommended). Playback is supported on one monitor at a time.
Is it rack mountable?Rack ears are included in the box, and it measures 330 × 230 × 78 mm at 5.8 kg. The optional AXIS TS2901 Appliance Stand allows space-saving vertical desktop placement instead.
What support does Axis provide long term? The appliance carries a 5-year Axis warranty covering both recorder and hard drive. Axis has confirmed hardware support and RMA service for the S2208 through to 31 December 2030.
