Important Install Note — PoE+ Required
This camera draws up to 15 W when illuminator, heater, speaker and PTZ are all active. It requires 802.3at PoE+, not standard 802.3af, or a local 12 VDC 2 A supply. A typical 802.3af switch will not deliver enough power under peak load — the camera may run but may brown-out the warm light or active deterrence on event. On cable runs approaching the 100 m Ethernet limit, plan for a midspan injector or local DC.

Does it support AcuPick?
No. AcuPick is reserved for the higher-tier WizSense and WizMind cameras. This SD3 build has Auto Tracking Lite and SMD 3.0 — strong AI for an entry-tier mini-PT, but no attribute-based recorded-video search. Is this a TiOC camera?
Yes — the A-PV1 suffix is the TiOC active-deterrence indicator. The camera includes red/blue strobe with three flash frequencies, an 11-sound audible alarm library (with 10 custom upload slots) and a built-in speaker.
What power does it need?
PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) or 12 VDC at 2 A. Maximum draw is 15 W with illuminator, PTZ, speaker and heating glass all active — too close to the 12.95 W ceiling of standard 802.3af, so plan for 802.3at PoE+ or a local DC supply.
How far can it see at night?
Smart Dual Light gives 50 m on IR and 30 m on warm light. The 5× optical zoom can pull a target into the frame at the IR limit — useful for driveways and small carparks where the camera doesn't need 100 m+ reach.
Does it have a built-in speaker?
Yes — built-in speaker for active-deterrence audio playback. The speaker and the line-out audio output are mutually exclusive — use one or the other. Same applies to the built-in mic and line-in audio.
Does it work with third-party NVRs?
Yes — ONVIF Profile S, G and T are supported, so it will record to any ONVIF-compatible third-party NVR. Active deterrence triggers and IVS event metadata only push end-to-end on a genuine Dahua AI NVR.

What does "TiOC 2.0" mean and how is it different from TiOC 3.0?
TiOC = Three-in-One Camera: AI detection + visual deterrence (red/blue strobe) + audible deterrence (siren and voice) in a single unit. TiOC 2.0 uses SMD Plus AI and full-colour warm-light illumination. TiOC 3.0 (newer) upgrades to SMD 4.0, adds Smart Dual-Light (IR + warm), AI Coding and AcuPick compatibility. The 3549T1P is TiOC 2.0 — proven, full-colour, more affordable.
Why pick the 5MP full-colour camera over an IR camera?
Full-colour matters when you need to identify colour attributes at night — clothing, vehicle paint, hair colour, signage. IR cameras give you monochrome silhouettes; this full-colour camera gives you usable colour evidence around the clock. For situations where colour identification is critical (retail, forensic evidence, identifying intruders by their clothing), full-colour wins.
Does the camera have IR LEDs as backup?
No. The 3549T1P-AS-PV is a full-colour camera — its two on-board LEDs are warm-light only. At very low light, the camera relies on the F1.0 large aperture and Starlight sensor; when illumination is needed, the warm-light LED switches on. There's no IR fallback.
Will the warm-light LED disturb neighbours?
The warm-light LED switches on only when SMD Plus detects a real human or vehicle — not on every fox or possum. For residential sites near neighbours, this means the light only fires on genuine events. If you need pure silent IR monitoring, look at the 3866TP-ZAS-AUS IR bullet instead.
Does it support AcuPick AI search?
No. AcuPick is reserved for Dahua's newer TiOC 3.0 / AcuPick line-up. The 3549T1P uses SMD Plus and IVS, which work with any Dahua AI NVR for human/vehicle filtering and smart search.
Will the camera deter intruders automatically?
Yes. The TiOC active deterrence chain fires the instant SMD Plus confirms a human or vehicle inside the rule zone — strobe lights, siren and voice alarm all run on-camera, 24/7, without any operator, NVR command or mobile-app interaction.
What is the difference between the White and Black versions?
Specifications are identical. White and Black variants are available — choose Black for dark eaves, charcoal fascia and modern industrial aesthetics; White for traditional cream/render walls.
Why does it record at 20 fps and not 25/30 fps at full 5MP?
At full 5MP resolution (2592 × 1944), the camera records at 20 fps. If you need 25 or 30 fps, drop the resolution to 4MP (2688 × 1520) and the camera will deliver full motion. For surveillance applications, 20 fps at 5MP is more than sufficient — it's the typical trade-off across Dahua's 5MP line.
Can I speak through the camera?
Yes. The built-in microphone and speaker support two-way audio via the DMSS app or a compatible Dahua NVR — ideal for warning intruders, instructing couriers or speaking to family at the door.
Will it keep recording if the NVR or internet goes down?
Yes. The on-board MicroSD slot accepts cards up to 256 GB and records footage independently of the NVR.
Is the camera suitable for Australian outdoor conditions?

Does it require a subscription to record footage?

What Wi-Fi frequency does the C202 support?
The C202 connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. It does not support 5 GHz bands. Ensure your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz SSID during setup.
Can I view the camera remotely when I'm not at home?

How do I enable Privacy Mode?

Is this NDAA Section 889 compliant?
No. Hikvision is subject to NDAA Section 889 restrictions in the United States. For NDAA-compliant maritime, defence or US-federally-funded projects, we stock alternative anti-corrosion brands — please contact our team for a recommendation. For Australian commercial, council, port-authority, private and most state-government projects without an NDAA contractual requirement, this camera is freely usable.
Does it have ColorVu (24/7 full-colour) night vision?
The camera uses Smart Hybrid Light — it automatically switches between IR (silent monochrome) and white light (full colour) based on the scene and AcuSense triggers. With white light on, it delivers full-colour imagery to ~30 m. It is not marketed as a "24/7 always-on white-light ColorVu" model — the white light is intelligent rather than always-on, which is the right call for sites where residents or neighbouring properties shouldn't see constant white spill.
Will the polymer body fade in Australian sun?
The polymer is UV-stabilised for outdoor industrial use and operates through Hikvision's full −30 °C to +60 °C range. Over very long deployments (5+ years) some cosmetic surface chalking is normal on any polymer or painted housing, but the polymer's mechanical and corrosion properties are unaffected.
Does it run on standard PoE?
Yes — standard PoE 802.3af Class 3 (max 9.5 W). It also accepts 12 VDC (max 9 W) with reverse-polarity protection if you prefer to power it from a local DC supply. No PoE+ needed.

Does the TC40 require a hub or NVR?
No. The TC40 connects directly to your home Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz) and is managed entirely through the Tapo app. No hub, NVR, or additional hardware is required for basic operation, live view, and local storage.
What is the difference between IP65 and IP66?
IP65 means the camera is fully dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It is suitable for most Australian outdoor environments including rain and humidity. IP66 offers slightly higher water resistance (against powerful jets). The TC40’s IP65 rating is appropriate for standard outdoor residential and light commercial use.
Can I use the TC40 without a microSD card?
Yes. Without a microSD card, the TC40 can still provide live view, motion alerts, and two-way audio via the Tapo app. For video recording and playback, you will need either a microSD card (up to 512 GB) or an active Tapo Care cloud storage subscription.
How does person detection differ from standard motion detection?
