The RE705X works as a standard Wi-Fi range extender with any router brand — simply connect it to your existing Wi-Fi network during setup. OneMesh seamless roaming (single network name with automatic handoff) is only available when paired with a compatible TP-Link OneMesh router. With non-TP-Link routers, the extender creates a separate extended network name. What is OneMesh and how is it different from a standard extender setup? With a standard extender setup, the extended network has a different Wi-Fi name (e.g. “HomeWiFi_EXT”) and your devices don't automatically switch between the router and extender.
