WizSense AI · 8-Channel · 8-PoE · 4K
The Dahua DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ is a compact 8-channel WizSense AI NVR with 8 built-in PoE+ ports, 4K HDMI output, and a dedicated deep-learning chip for face recognition, perimeter protection and SMD Plus motion analytics. Record up to 16 MP per channel, plug all eight cameras directly into the back of the recorder, and view live or playback from your phone via DMSS — all from a chassis small enough to slip into a media cabinet.
This is the official Australia / NZ-market SKU (the AI/ANZ suffix), shipping with regional firmware, an AS/NZS-compliant 53 VDC adaptor, and a local 3-year warranty backed by CCTV Guru in Sydney. One SATA bay accepts a surveillance-grade HDD up to 16 TB — ideal for homes, small offices, retail shops and workshops running up to eight cameras.
8 PoE+ ports — one cable per camera
PoE Ports
8 × 10/100 · IEEE 802.3af/at
PoE Budget
72 W total · up to 25.5 W per port
Power + video on one cable
Each Cat6 run carries power and video back to the NVR — no power adaptors at every camera, no PoE switch in the rack. Eight ports cover most homes, small offices and retail shops in one box.
Powers high-draw cameras
25.5 W per port (PoE+ / 802.3at) handles IR-heavy bullets, mini PTZs, multi-sensor cameras and Dahua's active-deterrence units that exceed the basic PoE 15 W ceiling.
Gigabit uplink to your network
10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 to your switch or router — remote viewing, NAS backup and multi-site VMS pulls don't bottleneck on a slow link.
Australia / NZ-tuned firmware
The AI/ANZ suffix means region-correct firmware, AS/NZS-compliant 53 VDC adaptor, and a 3-year warranty backed by CCTV Guru in Sydney.

Frequently asked questions
How many cameras can the built-in PoE actually power?
All 8 ports deliver PoE+ up to 25.5 W each, but the total budget across the recorder is 72 W. In practice that's enough for 8 standard bullets/turrets at 5-9 W each, or about 2-3 high-power PTZ/IR-heavy cameras at 25 W each plus a few standard cams. Plan for ~9 W average per channel.
Does this NVR support AcuPick?
No — AcuPick is reserved for Dahua's 5-Series WizSense Plus NVRs paired with TiOC PV cameras. This is a 4-Series NVR, so it supports Quick Pick instead (the original colour/clothing-based target search). If you specifically need AcuPick, ask CCTV Guru about a 5-Series NVR.
Will it work with my non-Dahua IP cameras?
Yes. The NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 21.12) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. AI features run best with Dahua WizSense cameras, but standard recording works with any ONVIF-compliant camera.
What's the difference vs the 16-channel NVR4216-16P?
The 4216-16P has 16 IP channels, 16 PoE ports (130 W budget), 2 SATA bays (~32 TB), 4 alarm-in / 2 alarm-out terminals, RS-232 and an internal universal-voltage PSU. The 4108HS-8P (this model) is the compact 8-channel sibling — 8 PoE @ 72 W, single HDD bay, no alarm I/O, external 53 VDC adaptor. Same AI feature set on both.
What hard drive should I install?
Use a surveillance-rated SATA HDD up to 16 TB — Western Digital Purple or Seagate SkyHawk. Standard desktop drives are not rated for 24/7 recording and will fail prematurely. For 8 cameras at 4 MP H.265+ on motion-record, a 4-6 TB drive gives roughly 30 days; an 8 TB drive gives 45-60 days.
Is the DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-AI/ANZ NDAA Section 889 compliant?
No. Dahua products are not currently NDAA Section 889 compliant. If NDAA compliance is required (federal, government or defence installs), choose a Uniview, Hanwha, Axis, Bosch or IDIS NVR instead — CCTV Guru can recommend an equivalent.
Can I view it on my phone?
Yes — install the free DMSS app on iOS or Android, scan the QR code on the NVR's local menu, and you'll have live view, playback, push notifications and two-way audio without configuring port forwarding or a static IP.
Does it have alarm input / output terminals?
No — this compact chassis omits physical alarm I/O and RS-232 to keep the footprint small. If you need to wire in PIRs, sirens or gate triggers via hardware terminals, step up to the 16-channel DHI-NVR4216-16P-AI/ANZ (4 alarm-in / 2 alarm-out) or use camera-side alarm linkage instead.

Frequently asked questions
Is 80 Mbps bandwidth enough for 4 cameras?
Yes — for 4 cameras at up to 4 MP each running Smart H.265+, comfortably within the 80 Mbps envelope. If you're planning to run all four channels at 8 MP @ 30 fps with the highest bitrate, you'll hit the ceiling — step up to the NVR4108HS-8P (256 Mbps) for headroom. For typical home and small-shop installs, 80 Mbps is plenty.
How many cameras can the built-in PoE actually power?
All 4 ports deliver PoE+ up to 25.5 W each, but the total budget across the recorder is 36 W. That comfortably runs 4 standard bullets / turrets at 5-9 W each. If you're planning a PTZ or IR-heavy camera (~15-20 W), you may need to keep the other ports on lower-draw cameras or use an external PoE injector.
Yes. The NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 21.12) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. AI features run best with Dahua WizSense cameras, but standard recording works with any ONVIF-compliant camera.
What hard drive should I install?
Use a surveillance-rated SATA HDD up to 16 TB — Western Digital Purple or Seagate SkyHawk. Standard desktop drives are not rated for 24/7 recording and will fail prematurely. For 4 cameras at 4 MP H.265+ on motion-record, a 2-4 TB drive gives roughly 30-60 days of retention.
Is the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ NDAA Section 889 compliant?
Why is the network port only 10/100 Mbps?
The NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ uses Fast Ethernet on the uplink because the recorder's total bandwidth is 80 Mbps — well within Fast Ethernet capacity. The 8-channel and 16-channel siblings use Gigabit because their 256 Mbps capacity exceeds 100 Mbps. This isn't a bottleneck for this model; the 80 Mbps cap is the same number whether the port is 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps.

WizSense AI · 16-Channel · 16-PoE · 4K
The Dahua DHI-NVR4216-16P-AI/ANZ is a 16-channel WizSense AI NVR with 16 built-in PoE+ ports, 4K HDMI output, and dedicated deep-learning processing for face recognition, perimeter protection and SMD Plus motion analytics. Record up to 16 MP per channel, drive a 4K spot monitor and a 1080p control screen at the same time, and stream live to phones via DMSS — all from a compact 1U desktop or rack chassis.
This is the official Australia / NZ-market SKU (the AI/ANZ suffix), shipped with regional firmware, an Australian plug, a local 3-year warranty, and Australian tech support from CCTV Guru. Dual SATA bays accept up to 16 TB drives each, and the 130 W PoE budget powers a full row of WizSense cameras straight from the recorder — no separate PoE switch needed.
16 PoE+ ports — plug-and-play install
PoE Ports
16 × 10/100 · IEEE 802.3af/at
PoE Budget
130 W total · up to 25.5 W per port
One cable per camera
Each Cat6 run carries power and video back to the NVR — no power adaptors at every camera, no separate PoE switch in the rack. Run, terminate, plug in, done.
Powers PTZ-class cameras
25.5 W per port (PoE+ / 802.3at) supports IR-heavy bullets, mini PTZs, multi-sensor cameras and TiOC active-deterrence units that draw too much for basic PoE.
Gigabit uplink
10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 to your switch or router, so remote viewing, NAS backup and multi-site VMS pulls don't bottleneck on a 100 Mbps link.
Australia / NZ-tuned firmware
The AI/ANZ suffix means region-correct firmware, AS/NZS-compliant power adaptor, and a 3-year warranty backed by CCTV Guru in Sydney.

Frequently asked questions
How many cameras can the built-in PoE actually power?
All 16 ports deliver PoE+ up to 25.5 W each, but the total budget across the recorder is 130 W. In practice that's enough for ~16 standard bullets/turrets at 5-7 W each, or roughly 5 high-power PTZ/IR-heavy cameras at 25 W each. Mix accordingly, or daisy-chain a PoE injector if you need more headroom.
Does this NVR support AcuPick?
No — AcuPick is reserved for Dahua's 5-Series WizSense Plus NVRs paired with TiOC PV cameras. This is a 4-Series NVR, so it supports Quick Pick instead (the original colour/clothing-based target search). If you specifically need AcuPick, ask CCTV Guru about the NVR5208-8P-4KS3 family.
Will it work with my non-Dahua IP cameras?
Yes. The NVR4216-16P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 21.12) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. AI features run best with Dahua WizSense cameras, but recording works with any ONVIF camera.
What's the difference between the AI/ANZ and the EI version?
The AI/ANZ is the Australia / NZ-market SKU — same hardware as the global EI model, but with regional firmware, AS/NZS-compliant power supply, and a 3-year warranty backed locally in Australia. The EI is the European-region equivalent. Functionally identical; commercially region-specific.
How much storage do I need for 16 cameras?
A common starting point is 16 × 4 MP cameras at H.265+ on motion-record — roughly 10-12 TB will give you about 30 days. Fit two 8 TB or 10 TB surveillance-grade drives (WD Purple, Seagate SkyHawk) and you're set; the NVR supports up to 16 TB per bay (~32 TB total).
Is the DHI-NVR4216-16P-AI/ANZ NDAA Section 889 compliant?
Does it rack-mount?
Yes — the 1U chassis (375 × 329 × 53 mm) fits a standard 19-inch rack with ears (sold separately), or sits flat on a shelf. At just 2.6 kg without HDDs, it's also fine on a sturdy desk under a monitor.

Frequently asked questions
What is AcuPick and how is it different to Quick Pick?
AcuPick is Dahua's next-generation video search technology — it uses BOTH camera-side and NVR-side AI to extract rich attributes (clothing, body shape, vehicle make/model/colour/plate, direction, action) from every frame as it records, then lets you search by a reference image OR by combined attributes. Quick Pick (on the 4-Series) does single-attribute colour/clothing search only. AcuPick is faster, more accurate, and supports both people and vehicles natively.
Do I need special cameras for AcuPick?
Yes — AcuPick relies on camera-side intelligence to extract attributes during recording. You need Dahua's WizSense-Plus AcuPick-ready cameras (typically the TiOC PV and 5-Series IPC families). Standard WizSense cameras will still record and recognise faces, but the full AcuPick search depth needs paired AcuPick IPCs.
What does ePoE on ports 1–8 give me?
Extended PoE — long-distance Cat6 runs at reduced speed. Ports 1–8 support 100 Mbps up to 300 m or 10 Mbps up to 800 m (most IP cameras work fine at 10 Mbps for sub-stream + main-stream H.265+). Eliminates intermediate switches on long perimeter or carpark runs. Ports 9–16 run standard PoE+ at up to 100 m.
What is N+M cluster and when do I need it?
N+M cluster lets you pair multiple 5-Series NVRs so that backup recorders automatically take over if a primary unit fails — zero footage loss for critical sites. Useful for casinos, banks, transport hubs, hospitals and any install where a single-recorder outage would breach SLA. Configure via the NVR's local GUI or DSS-Pro.
Is the DHI-NVR5216-16P-AI/ANZ NDAA Section 889 compliant?
No. Dahua products are not currently NDAA Section 889 compliant. If NDAA compliance is required (federal, government or defence installs), choose a Uniview, Hanwha, Axis, Bosch or IDIS NVR instead — CCTV Guru can recommend an equivalent.
Will it work with my non-Dahua IP cameras?
Yes. The NVR5216-16P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 22.06) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. Standard recording works with any ONVIF camera; AcuPick and the deeper AI search features require Dahua WizSense / AcuPick IPCs.
How much storage do I need for 16 cameras?
For 16 × 8 MP cameras at H.265+ on motion-record, allow ~20-25 TB for 30 days of retention. Two 16 TB drives in disk-group config will hit roughly 45-60 days. If on-board capacity isn't enough, the NVR supports iSCSI for network-attached storage expansion.
Can I view it on my phone?
Yes — install the free DMSS app on iOS or Android, scan the QR code on the NVR's local menu, and you'll have live view, playback, push notifications and two-way audio without configuring port forwarding or a static IP.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference vs the compact NVR4108HS-8P?
The 4108HS is a smaller, lighter chassis with 1 HDD bay, no physical alarm terminals, and an external 53 VDC power adaptor. The 4208-8P (this model) uses the same full-size chassis as the 16-channel 4216 — 2 HDD bays for double the storage, 4 alarm-in / 2 alarm-out terminals on the rear panel, and an internal 100-240 VAC PSU with a standard kettle cord. Same 8 channels, same WizSense AI, same 72 W PoE budget.
How many cameras can the built-in PoE actually power?
All 8 ports deliver PoE+ up to 25.5 W each, but the total budget across the recorder is 72 W. In practice that's enough for 8 standard bullets/turrets at 5-9 W each, or roughly 2-3 high-power PTZ/IR-heavy cameras at 25 W each plus a few standard cams.
Yes. The NVR4208-8P-AI/ANZ supports ONVIF Profile T/S/G (version 21.12) and has native integration for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont and Canon. AI features run best with Dahua WizSense cameras, but standard recording works with any ONVIF-compliant camera.
What hard drives should I install?
Use surveillance-rated SATA HDDs up to 16 TB each — Western Digital Purple or Seagate SkyHawk. Two drives can be configured as one large pool or kept as separate disk groups for camera-segregated recording. For 8 cameras at 4 MP H.265+, a pair of 6-8 TB drives gives ~60-90 days of retention.
Is the DHI-NVR4208-8P-AI/ANZ NDAA Section 889 compliant?
What can I wire into the alarm terminals?
The 4 alarm inputs accept dry-contact NO/NC devices — PIR motion sensors, door reed switches, glass-break detectors, panic buttons or external trigger relays. The 2 alarm outputs are dry-contact relays that can drive sirens, strobe lights, electric gate triggers or a second relay stage. Linkable to record / snapshot / push-notification events in the NVR menu.
